My efforts at painting my cars have long been the butt of jokes at Norwich and Aylsham
I have long maintained that the rough finish on my cars is not due to the Dulux I used but an effort to help the laminar flow of the air over the bodywork rather like the shark skin swim suits worn by top Olympians.

Now, after all that derision I have been proved right... there's an article in Autosport magazine which reveals:
Ferrari added a drag-reducing 'shark-skin' coating to the undersurface of their front wing for the Turkish Grand Prix. So there!

A few months ago I shared my sharkskin paint theories with an aerodynamicist who works for Team Lotus at their wind tunnel in Italy. He dismissed it out of hand. No wonder they are at the back of the grid

Ever wondered why golf balls have dimples? Same reason, they're more accurate and can go faster.
