Hi Zook,

I am Toni, from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I have followed the development of your track, congratulations, amazing work, the track is very special. Do you have made improvements since 2011?

Regarding the SCXD lane change system made in the MDF, do them worked nice? I have specially courious about this, as I am SCXD user too.

Regards!

thanks Toni for bringing this thread back! I had forgot about it, it's one of the greats and made my morning to read through it again. Awesome work zook, I would also like to see what progress there has been. I like this section here:

It looks like if a driver coming from the left on the right lane does nothing, he will automatically change lanes to the outer lane. Now that is cool, and original, that a driver has to push the LC button to STAY in same lane! Is this how it works, or do I have it wrong?

PLEASE, PLEASE, updates PLEASE!

Well, when I check his profile it says Last Seen was April 2, 2012, so we may yet get that update. I will PM him so this does not get lost again.

Wow, Thanx JJJ
,Hello Ember and Jens. I've been on a financial sabbatical for longer than I care for,
Unfortunately I have dismantled "Shasta Highlands" to make way for a roommate.
Sorry everyone who has followed this track ,I know now that I must have been doing something
right. I have been jonesing to make a new track and have indeed started one in a different room.
The table and layout are finished and have some better trees going (oaks) pine trees are a pain in the bum.
So , soon as I get permanently back on the net,I will start a new build thread.
"Oak Creek Rally"
Jeff, the photo you posted is (was) on the back wall where the false road goes between the two cliffs.
and yes you got the lane change thing right,to stay in the right lane you'd have to change lanes..
@ Toni -The lane changes worked well, the wiring took a little time to figure out though.

I should be starting the new thread in less than a month...

Thanx again

He LIVES! Not only that.... He TYPES!!

Welcome back ol' boy! Missed you.

Shame to hear about Shasta biting the dust, but looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. Hope the financial straights improve, but there's a lot of it going around of late.

I'm really loving this track and the process. I found this thread searching for how to make the lane changers on my routed wood track.

Is there any chance you can explain the process on setting your lane changers up? Would greatly appreciate it.

From what I seen this is what you did which is exactly what I want to do:

The pins on the cars, are those custom made by you?

I really would appreciate it if you can do a detailed explanation. I been searching for hours and just can't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

Zook's Shasta Highlands track is no more, unfortunately. It was based upon the SCX digital system which uses the drop pin into a deeper slot to divert the car into the new lane.

Yeah I know this beautiful track is long gone, but I just wanted to know about the lane changers.

I'm gonna start my build in the next few weeks and I just want to get all the info I can. This is the only thing that's got me screwed up. How to make the lane changes on a routed wood track.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Maximus,Thanx for your comments..
Routing lane changers for SCX are much less work than the mechanical changers and free, but
the down side is the choice of cars is limited.Other brands of cars can be converted with the SCX chip
but not without difficulty.
Anyhow,to rout the changers all that needs to be done is an 1/8" deeper section about 10" before and after
the change. It takes a little sanding and finessing to get them to work, and jumper wires need to be soldered
because of the break in the copper.Oh and the most important is a capacitor has to be soldered at the jumpers.
I found out the hard way and burned out a $90 controller.I think the info is on page 2....
