The last time I posted in here was in 2011. The birth of our youngest and being busy at work resulted in me drifting away from SSD. The circuit shown in my footer fell into disrepair. I made a half hearted effort to reduce the size and make it suitable for an 8-year olds short hands. But even that project never really saw the light of day. At that stage the circuit was unusual as me with all the kit being put into storage.
That baby is now 11 and, looking for a Lockdown project (last years lockdown project was a vegetable patch!), we decided to resurrect our layout. It mostly had to be rebuilt but we retained the original hill section.
Id like to share our journey.
Once we decided on the new layout we had had to resurrect our PBpro. Confused about the developments - Arc Pro/APB since Ive been away a call with Riko set us on the right track. Within a few days we had everything up and running again.
It has been great fun racing again, even if you are getting trashed by your 11 year old (no respect these young one!)
We had to scratch build new pit buildings to fit the new layout. I like changes in elevation and rocks (dont ask) so that set the tone for the new circuit.
The centrepiece is a scratch built open-sided mountain tunnel, the kind youd see in the high mountains of Switzerland. This sits above the the pit garage and the surrounding landscape is meant to look like mountain meadows and high hills.
