I don't quite get it, could be I'm just drawn to a new shiny thing, but I'm feeling the need to experiment with 1:24. I'm also mentally (that's how I do it, anyhoo!) spending money that I've not yet earned from eBay with only a single bid currently on my start at a clearout!

That new Carrera DBR9 sounds peachy. The BRM Toyota looks devine. Sounds a daft question but should I take the plunge? Will the Carrera run nicely on analogue Ninco? What's the attraction to you large scale boys?

Hello Wankel,
In a moment of enthusiasm I bought a 1:24 AutoArt Porsche 911. Like you I was drawn to 1:24 despite a lifelong commitment to 1:32. Bad news is that it struggles on Ninco R1 curves, which my home layout has two of. The wider axle combined with greater weight/grip means that the inside driven wheel hops round - really needs a differential to work properly. Its OK on R2s and above though. The BRM may have lots of grip so would suffer more.

Kind regards, Leo

I dont think the lads at the club will let you run them when your in the white lane mate!!!, not sure they will go very well either if you intend to remove the magnets.
Have driven ninco 1/28's very scary but then car was development and had had no fettling for the track I was on, and handled nothing like the BSCRA brass/piano wire chassis cars of old.
Good luck I am sure you will buy them sort of odd ball thing you do.
Zen

Maybe you should attend more events you might not feel the need to dabble and it would be cheaper

I have half a dozen 1/24 cars - I would go the BRM over the Carrera - the 1/24 Carrera cars come with a 18v motor in them so run a bit sluggishly on anything less. I also find them fairly heavy or should that be hefty?

If I hadn't made up two 1/24 kits of the 88c I would have bought the BRM.

cheers

Wankel,

I'm a 24 scale convert, have been racing them for the last 6 years where possible. The BRM's are awesome fun as they are more or less ready to go out the box. But in saying that, as you well know, anything 'out the box" is tunable, and you will be able to get it to run better. The Carrera 24's are heavy, but they are great companions for each other. Alternatively you can use their bodies on Plafit type chassis and get an even better handling car.
Scaleauto have now released their own 24 scale cars, and they are peachy, but again, require complete dismantling, flattening, and re-assembly to get them to work properly.
Ideally, you need Carrera track or a Wood track with decent lane widths to run them, but they can run on ninco track, they just very close.

My Carrera track, with N-Digital electronics, and BRM cars.

Gordini is still yours, Teez! Think I'm going to need the notes for a BRM.

Ach, but that Aston sure does, as you say, look perdy.

Thank you for the feedback, you 1:24 boys. I'm not dissuaded at all!
