Me too, but from Thruxton, Castle Coombe and Brands. Super Saloons were the highlight of the meeting for me.

Just happened to have a Scalextric BMW Mini chassis lying around which is a pretty good fit

That was a very lucky fit with the Mini chassis and lights, I'm looking forward to seeing this build as I also have very fond memories of watching the Skodas and the other super saloons at Brands back in the day. Didn't the Skoda have a Chevron sports car chassis?

Can't remember much of the technical stuff from back then but they certainly weren't Skodas under the skin

Quite possibly. IIRC most - if not all - the Super Saloons were either on sports car chassis or custom spaceframes. ....And they had Formula 5000 engines.

Stupid question.....What's the favoured way of making body posts? Those look good.

I used 6mm plastic rod cut to length and drilled to suit retaining screws. Superglue them into position and then araldite to secure.

Cake dowels are the cheapest way to buy the plastic rod :)
