Hello, can anyone give advice on how to get some track with reduced grip? I saw someone had a layout at the slot car festival where parts of the track appeared to have aluminium guides and a smooth dirt track effect on some corners - I thought it was from a standard kit and have searched around but cannot find anything? Thanks.

You could smooth any track down with a piece of sandpaper if you wanted. Also, silicone sprays also help shine it up a lot.

Ninco do snow track, which is high gloss CLICKY

they also do another one that looks like a combo of mud and snow, the track is non-ferrous so the mags don't work and get the tail swinging!

Thanks, I had seen these but the one I'd seen had an inner and outer curve - looked the part so am surprised if it was home made? Any others you know of apart from the Ninco?

The SCX snow (white) track has Aluminum rails, so no magnetic down force, and is quite smooth. Although why you would use magnets in a rally car is beyond me.

There's a magnet in the motor Pete, and that has an effect. Aluminium rails prevent that.

Of course, harder tyres create the same effect. I don't know why manufacturers don't make harder 'rally' tyres.
