I`m in a bad mood
Just got back from the Dentist. I was in there for 30 minutes of agony, then he smiles at me and tells me the damge is £124 So I get home and to rebel against this injustice of it all, me and the dog are sitting down here posting on SF whilst eating chocolate peanuts and raisins. She`s on the nuts and I`m on the raisins, obviously cos of me pegs!

My question is this...Do we get good value for money when buying a slot car?

I say yes because everything else seems to be priced in silly money. I ask you , £124 for 30 mins work!!

Jonny, why didn't you o the work yourself, save the £'s and spend it on slot cars? I mean, a bit of resin makes a great filling, a pinion puller would have removed any teeth, etc etc?

I reckon you have a very expensive dentist indeed, but we don't know what you got for your money.

VFM, Value For Money, is another of those very sensitive, subjective areas and even the same person can feel very differently in different circumstances. For instance, if you had been writhing in agony from toothache over several hours and no home pain killers and booze were having any effect, £124 for quick relief might seem much better value - there have been times when I have been in a similar situation.

As to VFM in slot cars, let's remind ourselves of THIS
Hmmm . . . makes you wonder . . .

He was a nice lad. I haven`t met him before as he is a referal specialist. When he met me, he did the hand shake and said "I have your dental records from the MOD and realise who you have served with. I am concerned that you are a scarey man and I know I am going to hurt you Mr. S, what concerns me is that you may hurt me more!"

He wasn`t joking! He did a test for gum disease with a probe that he stuck into each and every tooth through the gum to the bone to test the depth! Oh my I nearly bailed out big time! What was that film with Dustin Hoffman getting tortured by Laurence Olivier playing a dentist? And I had to pay for the fun filled half hour! Anyone else feel slightly woosy?

Back to cars, senior club nite at you know where. Lads had been to MK (none of them members Jexy... ( names can be supplied!) Seems the best deal at Swapmeet... Daytona Ferrari and CSL for £50? Scalex Sport F1 for £15? On the upside, the SCX F1 87 are up to £45 so I figure that everyone knows it`s a good non mag racer? Heard the toilets were a Bobby Sands experience? All over the walls! Traders falling out, Hmmmm I`m not surprised looking at the price differential between `proper trader` and `Del Boy`. Sorry but something can`t be right if the new Fly are going for £25? I think I know how it`s done?

You want a rip off talk spectacles. Thin bit of metal, two hinges bit of double glazing and that will be £200. Sweet.

No, I don't need glasses but everytime my dear wife gets a new pair I'm staggered.

Slots? Excellent value for money in my book. I get hours and hours and hours of fun from each and everyone I buy.

Well it seems like we all have shiny knashers today!

I had a new dentist today and terrified her. 2 fillings scale and polish and the money saving ingredient.....................

No Anaesthetic!

She was SO careful. It was a Bill Murray moment

What no root canal?

All that for £36.50

Plenty of money left over for slot cars!

I'd agree with u!

Slot Cars are good fun for what they cost in my opinion. Just bought myself a Slot-It Porsche 956 today, the Canon livery. I'm pleased with it. Alloy wheels, V12 and gearing all as standard. I'm happy. I also bought a rather used scalex mondeo for a fiver, thats not bad either!

both ends of the spectrum there!
