Members of the MrC & MrD Slot Drag Clubs invite you to try your hand at slot drag racing. The MrD Slot Drag Strip will be in action at the UK Slot Car Festival on 20 May. We will be running an open competition (anything goes) for the fastest Elapsed Time in the morning session of the event. In the afternoon session there will be a 1/24th Bracket racing series with members of the MrC and MrD Slot Drag Clubs. If you would like the opportunity to race in the 1/24th Bracket racing series in the afternoon, you will need to let me know, so that I can register your interest, as I only have a limited number of places available (these will be on a first come, first served basis). If you do not have a 1/24th slot drag car we will be able to supply a loan car for you to use.

Bracket Racing, is whereby each driver states his nominal Elapsed Time (ET) and the difference between the two cars ET's is 'dialled-in' by the Race Director, creating a staggered start for the cars - the amount totalling the difference between the two stated ETs. i.e., one car states say a 3 sec ET, the other, a 2 sec ET. So there will be a staggered start of 1 sec between both cars. In theory, both cars will reach the finish line at the same time; if one car goes faster than their stated ET though, they are eliminated. Often though, one of the cars may run slower than expected, allowing the other past at the line - either that, or an over exuberant driver takes off too quickly (marginally before the green light) and consequently 'red-lights' and is eliminated.

There, not a problem…an absolute doddle I hear you say!!! Come and have a go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Cheers

Hi Mark, the drag strip can be used for 1/32 or 1/24 scale cars. I believe there will be a competition for fastest ET of the day (or similar). So any car can be used really, we do normally say no metal body cars for safety reasons. We hope you can make it and give the strip a go.

Cheers
