If you are running without the magnet (which I strongly suggest you do, to get the full potential out of the car) then the 956 is a good idea. Also try any one of the 4 Fly Racer cars; Porsche GT1 '98, Saleen, Lola B98 and Ford Capri. They will be great companions to your Audi. They also need very little tuning to run very well out-of-the-box.
If you are running with magnets, then the Fly Lola B98 (standard version), Fly Porsche GT1 '98 (Racer with magnet), and the new Fly Viper will be competitive. As would the Scalextric Lola that you mentioned.
