G'day all,
I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new Slot.it GT40 Gulf and it arrived on Monday this week. As per usual I couldn't help myself but had to give it a run around the track, unboxed it and took the body off to true/oil grease etc and the first thing I noticed was that the front right hand tyre grub screw (for height adjustment) had been super glued in place because someone had made a mess of the grub screw hole during manufacturing. I'm not one who usually complains about these things but its not the first time I have recieved a 'Brand New' Slot.it car only to find it damaged. I purchased the Nissan R390 Calsonic earlier in the year and it already had one of the front wheel components broken. I take it the thing that we call quality control doesn't exist with these cars or I'm just one of the unluckiest people around (Actually I am, usually when I buy something brand new theres always a problem-(Nissan Entrails a lemon, fridge blew up,microwave didn't work, numerous broken bones, car accident etc). I just thought I'd post this problem as I know there are quite a few collectors here on the forum and it wouldn't look good if in the future you sold your new Slot.it GT40 to someone else for a tidy profit only for the person who bought the car from you to get stuck into you and say that you have used the car and repaired it with super glue. To say I was dissapointed is an understatement. I would take the car back to where I purchased it from but the airfare alone would probably buy me 10-15 more Slot.it cars. Although I am peed off I would like to say this this won't stop me purchasing more Slot.it's in the future. So much for a limited edition.
Cheers
Matt

QUOTE (dangermouse @ 11 Aug 2011, 22:24) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hi Matt I would take a photo and email to slot.it - the email is on their website - I have found them excellent to deal with I am sure they will get back to you

cheers

QUOTE (highbarn @ 11 Aug 2011, 22:31) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'd second that - excellent service. It will take nothing for them to mail you a new chassis.

Thanks fellas,
I intended to email them about this problem but as for as taking the photo of something so small I'll have to see how it turns out. I know the Slot.it crew frequent the forum and are always very helpful with questions/suggestions etc and know that these cars are generally seen as being of a high standard.

Hi again,
Sent an e-mail to Slot.it last night and was generally surprised to hear back from them so soon.

Hi Matt. Sorry to hear so
We try our best to improve on these things and in general the GT40 has been doing quite well - but snafus happens sometimes.
If you plan to buy again from the USA retailer, please let me know and we will have a spare chassis forwarded to him so you can get it free with your next purchase. Please try to send a picture, it will help us pinpoint the trouble.
Kind Regards
Maurizio

Snafus -a chaotic or confused situation. (Glad I checked this word up as I thought he was saying S*#@ Happens)

Thanks to Maurizio for the quick reply.

Hi again,
Quick question for those that purchase Slot.it cars. My previous Slot.it cars have always turned up with the box sealed in plastic. The Ford GT40 Limited Edition turned up with no plastic seal on the box and I thought for a Limited Edition that this would be one of the things that would stop people opening the case which these cars come in. Do or did yours come sealed in plastic?
Thanks
Matt
G'day,

Thanks for the respones to my questions and sorry about the late reply, had forgotten about the Gt40 as it is just sitting in its box waiting for a new chassis. Had received a reply from Maurizio a few weeks ago saying that he would contact an American Distributor to see if he could source me a chassis (probably easier contacting an Australian Distributor IMO). Also contacted PowerSlot Cars in the US where I purchased the car from, no response, so I would like to know where I can get a new chassis from myself as the Slot shops I frequent don't seem to have these in stock. Thanks in advance for any help. (oh and a chassis for my Nissan R390 which also turned up broken. Not bad, I've only purchased four slot.its this year and 2 were already broken, so to me a 50% strike rate, Hmm not that flash.
Thanks
Matt
Thanks to Maurizio at Slot.it for sending me a new chassis for my GT40 Gulf and even a bigger thanks for also sending me a replacement chassis for my Nissan R390 GT1 which I didn't expect. Must say everything I read about Slot.it being great to deal with is definately true, answered my emails and any questions I asked and its good to see in this day and age that customer service is still alive and well(with Slot.it anyway). Now to get the car rebuilt and time for some serious laps.
Cheers
Matt
