Skid, initially the track has four lanes. We'll be building the track ahead of the event to fine-tune the positioning of LCs.

We would like get the team count into double figures.

Our News story has also been released; click here. Thanks Doug!

Skid, on the floor next year. Having a raised track a long-term goal. We will have a raised rostrum, and marshals will be given judo mats or chairs.

Zipp, no magnets. I knew there would be something! I'll get the regulations ammended.

Any brand of car is allowed, including scratchbuilt cars. The only stipulation is a plastic chassis. We put this limit in because if we have metal cars then it could be quite destructive when the inevitable 'friendly nudge' occurs

Looks good, and Id certainly consider being part of a decent team but I think the car rules are a little too open, granted you are trying to get many different types of car, why not make it a HRS2 chassis race with the body of your choice? Otherwise it will be NSR vs scratchbuilds

montoya1: at the moment we are unsure whether the room will be gradually darkened or not, if possible it will be useful to do this to allow drivers to adjust to the change easier.

Have you thought of asking your local school or community centre if you could borrow some dining tables. You could offer to make a donation to the school PTA for the kids. You can then cadge some 8 x 4 sheets of chipboard for the tops from your friendly builder and return them after the event. That way people will have less sore backsides from sitting on a floor and the track will be raised off the floor at minimum cost. Hope it is successful for you. Not trying to tell you what to do but schools are always looking at ways to get extra funding, just trying to be helpful. Mike

Ed, the rules allow for HRS2 with a body of choice. There is no reason to restrict it to that only? If you want to do this, it's legal.

Please everyone remember that while we are obviously striving to get everything correct first time out, this is the first event of its type to be run in the UK, or possibly anywhere at all. We have the future for fine-tuning regulations, marshaling conditions and all the other things that will make themselves apparant once we wave the green flag.

Myself and Alex have eleven 24-hour races and numerous shorter endurance events under our belts. We are confident that the way have arranged things will lead to an enjoyable event for all who take part. If it turns out we are wrong, we'll make some changes for 2013.

respectfully
Gary

Hey Julian,

The way i read it is: tyres and chip are supplied, and controllers are available if needed.

I meant HRS2 only. The rules are way too open - its basically going to be whoever has the fastest car wins rather than the best team. With that excessively high entry fee Id be expecting control motors to be handed out and not just tyres. Every 24 race ive been to on the continent gives 2 control motors and X sets of tyres and in some cases control gear ratios are enforced too.

For the moment Im going back on what I said earlier, not interested! Tighten up the rulebook and I can arrange for some proper European interest to come along.

Also given that 2 out of 3 planned 24H races this year were cancelled due to lack of interest, should it be deposits first, then full entry fee?

Call me a bitter sod, but the smarter ones will call me a realist

Hi John, no problem, two would be very welcome

No problem Ed, sorry we haven't captured your taste buds this time. Maybe we'll see you in the future.

The post does actually state that a deposit of £25 to be paid upon registration. Either way, the race won't be cancelled
So I promise that you're all safe.
