I assume that the three codes imply three different softness levels but which way around is it?

Yes, it's shore ratings, and so the F30 isn't really "hard", just "least soft" of the 3

The F22 has been shown to work almost as good as silicons on the gloss wood tracks in our area. A set will JUST get a lighter weight car through a proxy series, or say a 6 hour enduro - - maybe . . . if you're lucky.

F15 is really a sprint tyre. Quite tricky to true.

F22 can be tricky to true, but if you work "wet" and low friction, you can get them to a matt finish but completely smooth and round.

I haven't run F30 myself, but I am sure other surfaces/siuations if will be good. Maybe for Ninco track, as it more tearing resistance.

Why don't they simply call them 'soft' 'medium' and 'hard' or at least market what the silly letters (C F P S, etc) and numbers mean?

The numbers can't be 'shore' as 15 would be so soft it would be like sliding around on tyres made of blancmange

They are shore rating and the 22s are great for racing on lots of surfaces. I am not sure how the shore rating is done. I read somewhere it is the compound shore that is used not tested with a durometer after production but it matters not they are good products. They also make a great "control" tyre as the number and manufacturer are printed on the side so ducks and drakes if they are used.

Yes the number is the hardness, in Shore A scale. 'F' is the code for the compound we use.
Same applies to the just released N22 tyre.

What is the best tyre for use on Scalextric sports track, from the range of slot.it tyres (non silicone)

Preferable something that will last around the 10 hours of racing?

I belive that F is rubber. I'm using F22 and N22 on my scalextric sport track.

Here Colin is the suggested use by Slot it

When you true the tire, if the tire dosent sand well it is likley silicone, if it sands with a black dust , then rubber, and if it is a grayish dust
then urethane is the likely material.
The dust or remnants from a rubber tire such as Allslot or NSR rubber will be black, and chunky whereas the urethane leaves a finer grayish dust, unless a different color pigment is mixed, then it will be slightly hued to, that mix. Of course we all know how hard it is to sand
silicone.

'F', C1', 'P', 'N', 'E' compounds are mado of various kinds of rubber, but not silicon nor urethane
'S' is silicone

Handy to know that the standard tyres are C1, I throw away (at least I hope I have) the silicone spare tyres, or they might be in a box somewhere.

I might order a set of F tyres to try next time I place an order.
