HI all, thought I would just bring all the info together in one post.

It is happening at Wrexham Slot car club on Sunday 18th July 2004.
Directions can be obtained from myself.

The tracks we hope to have are :-
Matt Tuckers
**** Lords
Graham Windles
Nick Hurst
Roly Brookes
and the wrexham club track as a super special

To add to the realism and part of the point of doing this, we are going to season the tracks
with cocoa, flour, sawdust whatever effects we can find. Bearing in mind Wrexham was like Bahraigh last monday it is now squeeky clean, yes shock horror we have cleaned the track

and the rules are...

No Magnets

The Official Rally Rules

Rules
Your car must be a 1/32 scale Rally car currently in production.
Ninco Pro Race or special parts will not be allowed on cost issue and competitiveness.

Chassis and body must be box stock as it left the factory, except for cutting to facilitate body rock.

Additional components must be available from one of the following manufacturers: Scalextric, Ninco, Proslot, Fly, Pink-Kar, SCX, Slot. It, Carerra, Ozrace, Cartrix, Reprotec, Team Slot or Gom.

Going to say max width of 65mm, however I know some cars exceed this so as close to 65mm as possible please.

Tyres must be rubber and of a natural consistency.

Weight may be added, but must not be visible from the outside.

Gear ratio may be changed

Motors will remain standard
(NC1 cars may have NC2 or 5 fitted)

There will be no weather plows on the front of cars

Cars running in the 4WD category must have 4WD systems present as standard (ie. as they left the factory). This may be via drive shaft or rubber band.
Cars running in the 2WD category must run with 2WD motors. 4WD cars may have their 4WD system removed and run in the 2WD category.

Format
Each entering team will consist of two people: a driver and a marshal. The driver being the ONLY one allowed to drive the car and fix it in set service intervals, and the marshal the ONLY one who can replace a de-slotted car or conduct in stage repairs.

A person may be a member of more than one team. Although they can only drive for one team, but marshal for as many as they want.

Cars will be ID'd with numbers and so will people, this will be checked at the stages.

Each stage will be run twice, once in each direction.

Each driver will have two practise (experimental laps) on each stage in the first part of the day.

Each stage will be timed (by stopwatch, to the tenth of a second) from start to finish.

All times will be accumulated and the driver with the lowest time at the end of the day will win.

Before each stage is started by the first driver, a dice will be rolled to determine the weather condition for that stage (mud/snow/ice/other).

Stages will be run as seen fit on the day

All results will be split into 4WD and 2WD at the end of the meeting to determine category winners.

Can we also have a roll call set up sometime nearer the even, cheers all

Rob

Nicely summised Rob - its down in my diary just need to source a van!

Anybody who is thinking about going who will/could pass Northampton on their way to Wrexham and has access to a van (trasit size+) please contact me asap. Happy to pay the petrol costs as it would be cheaper than me having to hire one!

Really looking foward to this and I think it will be a real fun event.

I'll be there, although both of my cars have just been made illegal by the newest changes of rules... Can we expect these to be the final rules? Or are they still subject to random change?

Must say I think the stock motor rule is a bit pointless. Why can't it be, 'Any of these motors: ...' ? It would make for more competitive racing and a varied grid of cars, instead of one car being found to be the best and everyone using it.

Just my 2p, but I think it would be better that way. However if you have a good reason not to...

Lotus (searching for new rally cars...)

PS. That was the other moan. Why current production? Can't oldies be assed on the day to see if they would be competitive?

PPS. Can I just clarify? A driver has to choose whether they want to run 2wd or 4wd, they can't enter one of each, right?

Oh, and could we find out the narrowest gap that we have to get through on the tracks? The routed ones that is, not the plexi ones. Thanks.

Lotus, I have assesed the situation, and I cannot see any problems with running out of production cars BUT bring something that is DEFINATELY in the rules just in case I'm not happy.

Yes I need clarification on which catagory you will be running in, this will be recorded on the time sheets.

Diff, each driver may drive 1 car, so your team mate could drive the ranger

Anyone with access to a van you know who to contact

Hope to make the event, not sure yet though. Might be marshaling at Oulton Park. Therefore limiting my budget to £7, like i did for the last rally race at Wrexham
Hopes resting on a SCALEXTRIC FORD SIERRA COSWORTH on eBay at the moment! If not, I dont know what else to try yet. Unless someone is selling a old rally car?

What are you looking for?

I have several basic shells, i.e. body and chassis only.

Ninco Scooby Poo
Ninco Clio V6 (with suspension components)
Ninco Toyota Celica

SCX Focus
SCX Xsara
SCX RS200 (staying with me unless offers are high)

Scalextric Escort Cosworth

All in your price range and in varying degrees of... erm... buggeredness. If you want photos I can send them to you.

Hmmmm......

Can we have a 'Rally Raid' class please?

Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Monteiro/Pajero, Ford Ranger.... Which one to choose?

Also,

Apparently.... running a car with a HRS chassis has been deemed to be *edit* NOT *edit* within the rules....

And James, the car I ran for our Ferrari thang was just a collection of bits from my spares box, so there's no need to spend money on our account
tho' no doubt Grah1 will show up with something powered by a quantum accelerator fashioned from a Band-Aid, an elastic band, and a piece of plastic cut from a section of Carrera track

I'm sure I'll be able to throw something together. I'll try not to resort to a paper body this time though

I'll choose to ignore Grah's ideas, they scare me! All good fun though!

Roughly, how much muck do u think we'll be picking up in these stages? Wondering if mud guards over the top of the tire (going round the inside of the arch) could be a good idea?... or even in the rules?

James do not fear the lure of the "Dark side" just remember every set of rules contains a portal to the"Dark side " just locate it and step through the loop hole to victory,Maw haw haw haw(evil laugh)
