Ive mentioned this before but had no response ,but here goes any way .Mick Lord andI have been talkng about the possibility of holding a slot rally ,you know the thing they do in Spain a lot with the corn flour for snow cocoa powder for dirt etc ,and now Ive got my Team Slot Stratos perhaps its time to try again to run this event as a one off in the quiet bit between the porsche challenge round at preston and the Uk proxy so that would put it at the end of july perhaps .
Still just an idea at this "stage "(pardon the pun) but asI have a rally track ,Nick Hirst has one and Im sure we can find enough odds and ends of various track bits to make some intresting stages it might now be a viable event.

Opinions please.

I think this would be an excellent idea - I've tried to get my club interested in this type of racing by offering up loaned use of my small but perfectly formed rally track. They have yet to bite as they are more interested in a BSCRA type track!

I'd love to partake but would need lots of warning about dates to co-or diaries.

Matts track is indeed portable, I beleive he took it to the phoenix gt day.

I think its a good idea, except i'd eat the track if it was made of cocoa

track is completley portable - just need a van, power and a couple of trestle tables and would be up and running in less than 10mins. average lap is about 18secs but you can send the cars round in either direction and run in night or day conditions. Some coca on the already varnished haripins would add a tasty bit of spice.

Wrexham = central!!!!! its about 3hrs from me. B'ham is about as central as can be but not sure if anyone willing to host an event (jonny in your myriad of chicken sheds?). However if wrexham or whoever are willing and you give me notice of dates I'm sure I'll make it up.

I had this kind of idea on paper at the start of the year. We also have a portable track. The idea being that you run `stages` say on five circuits with all times recorded to establish the winner...bit like the real thing I suppose but could be counted as qualifying into groups for finals on the main track?

I spoke to Luca at SCX about holding the SCX World Rally Tournamemnt and he agreed so likely to get some prizes etc. The Scx cars are great rally cars so no probs with the same make class thing as there are loads to choose from.

I was thinking August? Not hi jacking Grah`s idea here and more than happy to back out but just adding in my thoughts.

we are commited to august bank holiday for the proxy race so any time prior to that would be ok we were looking for about 5 stages run in both directions and maybe decide the weather on the roll of a dice for each stage prior to car 1 running on it ,2 to a team driver to drive navigator to marshall ,also allocate a time penalty to reverse direction for repeat stages. tming by hand held stop watch perhaps to keep the cost down . I can sort a van and drive to bring our stages no problem. just need to check the callender for a date .
John are you coming to Bolton for the carrera's if so I'll sort it with you then

Several years ago Toyota sponsored a slot rally via a contact (now lost) I had with a NSCC member, Alan Slade, I think his name was. He moved to Dundee shortly afterwards. We had sponsored a team in the slot BTCC with him when I was at BMW..

Anyway, the rally weekend took place at a hotel, in Doncaster I think. There were several tracks or all tyres, including mixed plastic/wood. Ring any bells with anyone?

Sadly, I did not attend because of a clashing event, but it looked great from the pics.

I know Alan , Scott he used to be a member of Quorn scalex club and I remember his rally track If I have nothing better to do and I search really hard this week end I have a pic some where , but if jexy can help it was featured in the nscc mag about 10 yrs ago

Also if you do sort someting out i can bring along the NSCC rally track - it's part ninco part SCX, it built and ready to go - not massive, but fun anyway. ( i took it to Slough)

If we can get the dates sorted and i can borrow a van - i'll bring it along and bring the SCX Xsara's WRC and we can make it a NSCC championship open round event if you like.

Let me know when and where and i'll do my best.

We run a couple of stage rallies at Aberstone each year, five stages run three times with stages reversed and good fun it is.

Someone suggested using talc on the snowy parts of one stage an noboby had any grip - we had to stop the stage and hoover it off as well as spray switch cleaner into SCX motors as they emitted very realistic smoke (as in a dropped valve), but sawdust on the forestry logging area was however VERY successful!
