I had a similar problem at the start of the year, this is what I found available in April.

ModelZone - good selection of kits, die-casts, railways and slots. On the slot front they had Scalex. Carrera and Fly. Don't want to add to the Fly debate but I couldn't see what is so good about them to be charging so much more than other makes. The quality of the plastic on some cars is very poor and transparent it makes the cars look like cheap toys. Having said that I did buy a Fly Corvette. Well it was under half price so less than a Scalex.
Hamleys Good selection of every thing once you accept the bounty they add for the pleasure of you purchasing from them - I thought my local shop over charged but they obviously have some lessons to learn. They had Scalex. Carrera and Revell. First time I've seen a Revell so was pleased with what I saw as I might be tempted to purchase a Porsche 550 when they're released to add to my Jimmy Dean collection. He should have stayed with MG when he took up racing - You've got to walk before you can run.
EF Russ, Clapham - a good window display doesn't prepare you for the shock when you go inside. Its like my Grandad's garden shed with lots of drawers and cupboards and high shelves split up like pigeon holes. It was difficult to see what stock he had - all the Scalex stuff was above head height so I didn't see much. I expect he's a great local shop as the drawers contain all sorts of obscure items and he was being very helpful to the customer who was there at the same time as me.

You will find that the established UK retailers who visit SF will fulfil your needs efficiently - the most well-known (in no particular order) being Get Slotted, MRE, Slot City and Pendle.
I can recommend ALL of those.

Two business cards for London outfits that I have.
"Past Present Toys", 862 Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill, London - 020 8364 1370. The old looking business card talks about obsolete diecast and tinplate toys etc and lists Scalextric with other brands.
The card shows funny opening hours so do phone first.
"Molly Mog", 97 Bishops Road, London - 020 7736 6686. Not sure why I have this card! I think I got it from a guy at a swapmeet who was doing some serious prices on Fly. Best phone again.
I've never made it to either of these so don't blame me if they aren't there or don't stock slots!

Battersea Rise.
Turn left when leaving Clapham railway station, towards Alders department store. Turn right at XRoad onto St. John's Road. At next XRoad (with traffic lights) turn right onto Battersea Rise. Shop is a short way down on otherside of road near a cycle shop. About 10 minute walk.

Grazie, Jak.... Sounds like Mr Russ is going to get a sudden russh of visitors.
My kind of shop! There was a great one in Ealing until a little while ago. Mounds of old Scaley and other old slot gear. The owner used to sit behind the counter building his model trains, far too occupied to actually serve anyone, let alone raise the shutters. Always looked closed from the outside... now it is. Sadly.

Is that the one near Northfields tube station run by the oriental guy? What a shame if it is. That was a great shop. Have you checked back - I suspect he didn't always keep regular hours.

It might save you a wasted visit to know that the Russ shop has almost no Scalex stock. Having read the earlier posts with interest, I went there on 22 Jan - (it's only a short train journey from where I live).
The shop does have a timewarp appearance and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately they had just a handful of new cars, some track and a few spares.
Re other shops. The High Holborn shop of Modelzone (>5 mins walk from High Holborn tube) has many recent cars by Scalex/Fly-(some reduced price)/Revell
