It might save you a wasted visit to know that the Russ shop has almost no Scalex stock. Having read the earlier posts with interest, I went there on 22 Jan - (it's only a short train journey from where I live).
The shop does have a timewarp appearance and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately they had just a handful of new cars, some track and a few spares.
Re other shops. The High Holborn shop of Modelzone (>5 mins walk from High Holborn tube) has many recent cars by Scalex/Fly-(some reduced price)/Revell
