Just arrived today (saturday) even after BA tried to bump us off the flight.

Here fora couple of weeks and wondered if anyone knows any slotcar shops or racing clubs in Dubai.

I seem to remember that Xlot lives here.

Well I guess it depends on how much detail you want, Tropi...

Beppe (Xlot) and myself had a very nice lunch yesterday at the magnificent Jumeirah Beach Hotel, overlooking the swimming pool and the spectacular Arabian Gulf....

I'll leave Beppe to fill in the details. He has been banished to Saudi for a few days but I'm sure that he will fill be in touch when he gets back.

Of course, we discussed his digital system but quite frankly, there was so much silicone around that both our minds went way beyond micro-chips.... Just as well that Mr and Mrs Jexy only arrived today

Beppe has a great concept... that I'm sure Jexy will agree takes digital slot racing way beyond what SCX has just produced....

I'm looking forward to meeting with Beppe again, along with Jexy... at the Jumeirah Beach poolside, of course....

I am really pleased to see those pics on our site at last, as I think quite a number of our guys won't have seen them before. This will fill in some of the 'missing links' for them and I needed reminding of the almost slotless look of it.
One wonders what is the context of all this silicone that is attracting your attention . . .

Really looking forward to the 'Gossip from the Gulf ' in a couple of weeks time!

Although this topic is 10 years old, I would like to revive to ask the same question.

Are there any active slot racing clubs in Dubai?
Does anyone know anyone who might know someone who has a clue about slot racing in Dubai?

I found a huge Carrera track in Dubai Mall, toy store, but apart from that nothing.

I spoke to Russell about this in September this year and he told me they are into RC cars not slot racing in Dubai.

The sister in law has a holiday home on the Palm Jumeirah , been over there loads & have never seen a slot club, although there used to be a shop in one of the malls that sold Scaley.
Seen plenty of abandoned posh cars over there recently though!

When I was there 4 years ago the Dubai Mall had a couple of toy shops selling slot cars. I think one was a Hamleys franchise and this sold Scalextric whilst there was another toy shop I think called the Toy Shop (or something similar) that sold Carrera.

It being Dubai both shops were fairly large with very good ranges of each, although prices were normal retail.

I bought a Carrera model and then had to spend the next two weeks of our holiday taking it to Thailand and then all the way back to the UK.

Hi JVitor,

I live in Dubai for the last 3 years and the only slot cars I have found are some Carrera cars and sets in Hamleys and Toy Shop, both in Dubai Mall only. Very limited rabge of course, but you can find all three scales.

Nothing else exists here. Even me, a few weeks back, I gave up and decided to dismantle my track in order to save up space at home, as I couldn't find anyone interested in the hobby. Sadly, slot cars don't exist in UAE. Only some Carrera sets that some fathers are buying for their kids.
