actually - shoes you by in pairs, slot cars you buy in threes - two to run against each other and one for the shelf!

I was only kidding and never buy one for the shelf.

In fact I never buy a pair to be competitive; The variance in RTRs means that a pair of the same car is rarely competitive, I find it better to time fastest laps to find which cars are competitive with each other.
