OK, I'm ready to try out my hand at chassis building. I was thinking that it doesn't look that hard but then I start reading about how I need to tin this and that and use a liquid flux on this and a paste flux for that... Is there a good and simple article out there that will de-mistify the art of soldering for me?

check out bwa wheels site theres a good soldering 101 but if your in the uk use an iron of about 75 watts and not the 40 watt that al describes as a 240 volt 40watt doesnt have the heat of a 110v 40 watt
The main thing about good soldering is getting the heat into the joint fast and thouroughly so the solder will flow and penetrate the joint and not just sit there on the top of the metal. The metal should be cleaned and tinned before making the joint . als artical explains this very well
