Still my favourite...

Winner of the Grand Prix class in the 2000 and 2001 Marconi Foundation Proxy Race. The body is a Classic fibreglass 1037 Alfa Romeo 12C.

The chassis has a laser-cut spring steel frame, with a "floating" 2mm thick heavy brass plate suspended below it.

The motor is a shortened Mabuchi 'S' can, with a turned down Mura 'C' endbell and 36D brushes. The magnets are polymer cobalt, for brakes rather than "magna-traction" - the heavy brass under-plate takes some stopping, besides which there isn't much magnetic force 1/8th of an inch above the track surface! The armature is a balanced and trued Slot.it V12/2.

Kind regards,

Russell

Here's a link to an absolutely fascinating web-site on vintage/veteran racing car transporters, which has detailed pictures of the 1955 Mercedes Benz transporter, and an article (in progress) on constructing a 1/32nd scale model of this 1934 Buessing (MAN) truck used to transport the Auto Union racing cars:

Lot's more wonderful transporters, like these:

Enjoy!

Kind regards
