Hi,

here's a retrospective of SRM, from their 1st set in 1959 to their 2 later sets. The early 1959 set with the Vanwall & the Ferrari shown here from my museum is the only one known to exist at this time. The cars use a Romford Terrier motor, the later cars used a motor SRM designed themselves. The second set has a Lotus & Cooper. The 3rd set has 2 Mini Coopers. The last photo shows all my SRM cars in the Museum here in Houston, Texas.

Thanks,
Bernard

Don wants them all!

Great stuff Bernard, nice to get another look at the first set. Are those controllers made of Bakelite? Sure looks like it...

Also, how about a couple shots of the different chassis?

Thanks,
Don

Hi Don
The 63/64 GP cars are still available from SRM but sadly lacking motors if you want some let me know and next time i am in harrow I,ll sort some out for you,I am sure they are relatively cheap and would go like stink with a beardog motor in them
now there's an idea !
They had no chassis as they were like airfix cars
The Vanwall and ferrari are as rare as rocking horse Sh&T i,ve only ever seem them once in 10 years trawling through E bay Even SRm havn't got copmplete ones . They did have a chassis and were provided with 2 different motors, the romford phantom and an even rarer one made specially for SRM unfortunately niether will fit the 1500s .

Cheersc tony

Hi Kev,Hi Don,the controllers are plastic. Heres some photos of the 1st chassis with the Romford Terrier motor & Eldi gears, then the later F1,then the chassis of the Mini Cooper. Last just for fun a pic of the Welkut chassis.
Of course you may come & visit anytime ,they look better in person. I think the chinese delegation will be visiting again soon.
Thanks,Bernard

More great photos Bernard!
I love using SRM cars on my Jouef layout, the motors run really strong.
I think that the SRM Mini Cooper is the best of all versions made during the 1960`s.
Derek Cooper has a top quality SRM Mini Cooper set for sale, & it`s at a good price.
Cheers
Kev.
