Thanks to all those that turned up to support the SSD track at the UK Slot Car Festival 2011. It was great to put faces to names and to share such a fantastic track with you.

Special thanks must go to the folk at Slot Track Scenics who transformed the track into something wonderful - tyre walls, fencing, TV towers, hospitality tents, you name it - it was there. Just brilliant!

Riko did a sterling job with MIH chipped cars (the lights really do go on and off you know
), powered flippers, faultless condictivity (even though we could have done without that during the shorts
) - sorry about breaking the rear spoiler on your car though. Amateur drivers
.

Unfortunately, in the chaos of it all, we didn't manage to get any videos. I think that next time, we will need to fly in Mr.F. He is clearly good with kids
. I swear that some of them didn't even know they were driving a car!

In any case, here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

Thanks to all on the ssdc stand and for the demo Andy of the new throttle curve features in the yet to be released update of SSDCv5. Thanks for spending some time talking to me and having a look at the laptop....In what looked like a very hectic day.Cheers mikefi

Now appreciate that Andy's 11 year old son did all the MDF work - bridge and raised back section, and my 6 year old son did the Pit wall...

Fat chance! I'd have spent all my time playing with that fine layout and checking out all the other stuff there. I'd have given my left one to be there, but no one wanted it. ;-)

I'm having trouble finding it. Can you help me out? When I clicked the link to your gallery, all I got were SSDC screen shots.

It was a great day spent most of it hassling the lads on their superb SSD system. I even got to drive my Porsche 962 round the track, thanks. A few things if it helps. Loitering with intent I got talked to a more than a few times by other visitors. What was supprising was that quite a few really did not know about digital nevermind SSD. May be you need a more obvious poster that says IT CHANGES LANES ON DEMAND. The track was perhaps too complex? It was superb but it was difficult to work out even where the pit lane entrance was. For a first timer at least put the pit entrance where it is more visible. Having had a few laps it was superb, but for a single 20 lap race. Note these are supposed to be construive comments. As a display there were no better. Now a grovel. I missed the live LC presentation, it ther anywhre to get a copy or a link to it?

Thanks again for a great day out and SSD has moved up the shopping list!

Pics ok now thanks - I think Scalextric have just clocked up another Audi R8 sale - looks fantastic on the track.

How did the pace car challenge go?
Also, will there be a new APB firmware soon for the in car pro chip?

But you need the lighting boards, I stole them out of another car. I'm gonna light all mine I think. They handle superbly as well!

If I said it was manic all day, no time to think even. I didn't even get to see the museum, missed out on the swap meets. We were very popular, and people were throwing cars off the track like there was no tomorrrow. So no chance to do videos, and no chance to race the pace car even though we set up the system to be able do it.
So the prize of the MIH encoded chip went to.... drum roll..... wait for it..... Andy Wallace for a superb performance of entertaining the troops! (and then he can also use it to develop some more cool stuff!)

I have to say that the hospitality tent and people set up by David Jessett from Slot track scenics was the finishing touch that just took the track to another place. I don't know the prices for his stuff but it absolutely transfomed the track from a Scalextric rug racing toy to a true motor racing circuit! That stuff blew me away

THanks Riko,

It was a pleasure for us to work with you. We have admired the work that Andy and you have been doing for a long time and were very happy to help to make the circuit as realistic as we could in the short time available. Only sorry I didn't get to run a single lap of the track!!
