Hi Guys, I have just got SSDC to run my c7042 scalex set up.
I am very happy with it...

Questions
1. Is there a data base that diplays fastest laps for each car on each track and the name of the driver , HIstorically . I would be interested to see who has done the fastest ever lap of my track and also the fastest ever laps by each different car.

2. Is there any tutorial or help infomation on the SSDC.. Obviously the manual from the SSDC web site and the excellent first time start up video, but any more Tutorials along these lines??

3 . I am currently recording pace car laps then setting the pace car throttle to 70% and setting the target time to approx 1 second slower than average time of lap ( 14 Seconds ). this system seems to work intermittantly, i get about 3 to 6 good laps then either to fast or too slow, any suggestions?

looking fwd to more experiments

ps. Sorry to start new topi c, but I have looked for this Info else where. Seems to be a bit disjointed all the info on SSDC systems. Is any one so inclined to put it into an easy to follow set of topic headings........!!

seems there are alot of questions regarding pace cars and alot of questions regarding Pit lanes, these may be 2 good topics to start with

hi
the forum seems really quiet at the mo but i will put these up for thought.

1.as i understand the fastest lap etc is planned?? For a future release as are many other goodies, next up for the update is the penalty system wich lokks and sounds very cool.

2.The current manual is out of date and Andy nows it needs updating.

3.variable throttle pace cars are difficult to set up,there are threads on here that cover just this topic, much easier to stick with fixed throttle ones and they do provide good racing opponents if your settings are good..

4.ssdv V5 is still in it's infancy and there will be many more updates to look forward to in the future....

Grant,

1. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution for the historical lap time other than saving the races, and downloading the stats to excel. I haven't tried downloading to excel, but I think it's outlined in the manual.

2. I don't think there is anything else availble regarding tutorials. There is an SSDC v.5 thread on this forum that has some very good tips that I've found very helpful.

3. I don't proclaim to be a pro at pace cars, but I have had some success after much trial and error; hats of to awallace and Mr. Flip for my success! I start the pace cars in non-variable throttle mode, and push them pretty much to the limit on the start speed - maybe between 55% and 65% depending on the car. Once they're running with no de-slotting, I switch to variable throttle mode; lap time is curcial. Sounds to me like you're setting it too slow by setting it a second behind the normal time. I set mine pretty much at the actual time, not necessarily at the obsolute fastest time. If after switching to variable mode, and you get some de-slots, lower your start speed a bit. Of course this all has to be done after recording a pace car first.

Hope this helps!

Thanks gmac for airing this (and also to those stalwarts, BB and GSR, who we can always rely on for prompt and sensible responses!)

I only got as far as downloading the trial SSDC and to be honest, ran out of time to give it a good go, and hence decide whether I wanted to purchase it. The summer came along and diverted me away from the Scaley.

I did find it frustrating that I had to trawl and troll through threads to get any info to help me, which added to the ease with which I dropped the project. Andy is a very very busy man, what with work, his life and all the excellent development he puts into the various projects. How about we take a little bit of strain off his shoulders, and start a thread that could become a sticky.

I was thinking more along the lines of only posting small snippets of instructions that could cumilatively be seen as an up to date version of the SSDC v5 manual. Have a separate thread to discuss various items, then when agreed, post to the sticky. Thus keeping the sticky PURELY for agreed processes that work. Does this make sense? I feel a flow chart or PPT presentation coming on - I'd better have a lie down.

Cheers, Martyn
