thanks for the further info on the Matra. Proto did a resin kit of that car many years ago, but could never bring myself to pay the price for a kit which would need to be re-engineered in order to keep up these days. Leaves a real gap in my collection: the starting lineup of the '67 LeMans race.

I don’t think the GAMA model is particularly rare, although not many make it to UK. The original comes with a very heavy sidewinder chassis and motor. The body seems pretty accurate, though.
Betta & Classic make a vac-formed body in polystyrene but it’s very wide (I have one, courtesy of Trisha on this forum) and would need a lot of surgery to make a decent model.
They’re both 1968/69 Matra-engined cars, of course.

...The hunt for the "killer motor" has started in earnest, pics to follow.

I would have thought that what you've fitted is than adequate on Bordeaux' Carrera track. Interesting to see the bracket you've fitted. I may have to do something similar with a Riko Trophy. On the long straight at Champagne Mouton the original U-clip isn't strong enough; the motor leaps from the cradle.

Richard, thanks for the tip about the motor clip, I haven't had a similar problem before, but I will be careful.
Killer motor is more to do with torque than revs, standard Mabuchi is plenty fast enough, but a bit low on brakes.

You have no soul Joel if you aren't a fan of the Stromlinienwagen, such a beautiful car and brilliant engineering. Your slot car will look great on track.

I was hoping to race at Big Birds but I am running out of time building my car so it will have to be 2024 instead.

It started as a badly damaged Merit kit body kindly donated by Colin Spark with a missing chunk of the bodywork around the nearside front as well as missing windscreen, mirrors, exhaust and splash guards which I have made from plastic stock. It's coming along but what a shame that Immense Miniatures figures are out of stock as I am trying to make the driver figure converting a Tamiya rally mechanic figure.
