I started a thread last year where I was posting images of my repaints/reliveries. I was using an image host, who then pulled the plug on me. I am slowly shooting all the images again, so now I have started to direct-upload them.

Ever since I got back into slotting in '11, I've been fiddling with liveries that weren't "quite right". It's an OCD thing, really.

Putting right (mostly SCX) little mis-doings that bother me.

It's taken me a long time to get the hang of the software I chose to use for my own designs, but with a bit of e-mail help from Colin (Wraith) at C&C Designs I've now got the hang of it. As well as my self-designed decals that Colin printed for me (and some more that I'm working on currently), I've also used Team Slot and Patto's proprietary decal sheets.

I'm also currently working (slowly) on a few repaints, but more about them at a later date.

The idea of this thread is really just to show other slotters what I've bodged, how I've disguised it, and my DIY liveries. .............All ripe for your critique.

I'm going to start with a fantasy livery on a Scalextric "The Stig" Porsche 911GT3 which is in my hillclimb cars collection. The collection is loosely based on various European hillclimb series, and as the thread progresses you'll notice recurring decals of prominent sponsors from those series. All the decals on this one - with the exception of Scalextric's "GT3RS" tampo - were designed by me and printed by Colin.

There will be plenty more cars to show in the coming weeks and months. Some fantasy, most nearer (to a greater or lesser extent) reasonably accurate representations of 1:1 liveries that appeal to me.

Now, to start on OCD corner. Reg. plates. Why spoil an acceptable model by getting the plates wrong? The Escort comes with a massively over-scale plate, and the Impreza with a white plate on the rear. These were easy to correct.

I've had moments of brain-fade over the years, and some of my models have had livery removed. One car that I started to "re-identify" only to change my mind half-way through is this Accent WRC. I had erased all the numbers from the roof and doors, and the Monte-Carlo event plaque from the roof. I haven't yet found a suitable image of the red-on-white event plaque, and I gave-up on trying to DIY it. So my car now has the WRC logo on the roof.

My first attempt at a re-paint. This is my favourite Mitsubishi colour scheme. It's not one of the obvious variations of this particular livery, but having said that it is based on a genuine 1:1 car.

IMO the wing is a better interpretation of the proper Evo v one than Tecnitoys' poor (far to low) Evo iv one. If I ever get 'round to making an Evo iv wing that looks right, I'll have a go at a Monte-Carlo '98-style car.

Carlos Sainz's 2002 Catalunya car, but as driven by Alberto Sassi on RallyLegend 2013.

Didier Auriol's Tour de Corse 1995 car re-imagined as Isolde Holderied's 1997 Monte entry.

Yoshio Fujimoto's 1998 Corolla, from the New Zealand WRC event. This one's not finished. I want to add the black detailing around the side windows.

I'm the same as Gordon, I don't really know what differences I am looking at with your rally cars but they all look very professionally liveried.

I can spot the tiniest differences on a grand prix car (sad that I am) but my knowledge of rally cars is minimal.

Nice! Love the McRae Impreza and the Lancer! I'm going to have to look round for a set of decals for the 1995 Impreza, the original ones are vinyl stickers and not well placed or good looking. Ah well, a project for another day!

they all look great. I've got plenty of duplicates of rally cars, and intend to change the liveries to give those that were never done.

I was only thinking the other day that 15 to 20 years ago was the heyday of slot rally cars, they seems to have been a great reduction of rally car availability in the last 10 years or so, maybe due to the demise of Ninco, and the apparent fixation of GT cars.

Obviously teamslot are keeping us fed but more modern cars would be great.

I recently joined a plastic modelling group (Airfix etc) and have been sourcing 1/32nd saloons to kit bash into rally cars.

Loving the relive rise, I might be interested in some of the decal sets if you wanna part with them.

Sharing your livery OCD, you'd have thought that Scalextric keeps us busy enough with its endless cock-ups! Like you, I much prefer a specific driver/livery/event to those chosen by the OEM which opens up a whole hobby-within-a-hobby!

The Marlboro decals on the Sierra are Patto's, all the door and bonnet whites and numbers, and the H&R decals are mine.

Whose wheels/tyres/inserts are on the Escort, Stu?

The wheels are slot.it 15x8, IIRC. The inserts are Minilite resins from Munter (moulds taken from SCX American muscle cars, possibly?). I sprayed them with Halfords dayglo yellow. Tyres are NSR zero grip on the front and Paul Gage urethanes on the rear.
