Guys,

I have recently been reminded that the Marchon MR1 will be legal in this class next year, or to be more precise the Scalextric MR1, since Marchon never made the narrow chassis that fits under the F1s and the F40. Scalextric did this version themselves before, inexplicably, switching to the Micro chassis.

Anyway, since the MR1 dominates Mod class it stands to reason that it will dominate the new class too. I have five of the F1 bodies sitting here doing nothing, so I will give one each to the first five SCHORC regulars who want one, one per person, collect at the next national.

Two of the bodies weight 3.8g, so they will go to the first two to pipe up, the rest are heavier.

There are all pretty fugly as F1s go, the best is probably:

That happens to be one of the lighter bodies.

A little tip.

With this Tyco shape body:

You can remove the cockpit/airbox area, and attach to the MR1 body, the upper part of which is screwed in place.

This will reduce mass, COG and fuglyness slightly.

Al - we are now up to £200

But using the secret sterling-euros-eahorc dollars exchange rate, luckily for you it works out at £0.00

I noticed at the last national you used a Porsche body, was that on a wide or narrow MR1?

Deane as it seems at the moment you are giving stuff away, I may as well jump on the bandwagon. Do you have or know the whereabouts of any black rear spoilers for the MR1 body as I have a black 'n' gold duracell body that I could use?? Answers please on a postcard.

Lee - I think that body is a particularly heavy one. Would any wing do or does it have to be the right one? Do you need just the upper part or the struts as well.

I am loving giving this stuff away. I have a box and once stuff goes in there then I will happily fish through and pass on stuff within for little or nothing.

Al - most of the wide chassis are poor. Better to avoid them. Some of the bodies are shockingly bad in terms of mass and COG, their Marchon Nascar comes to mind.

Hiya Deane, thanks for the swift reply, I just need any rear spoiler as I can always spray it Black. And I was only joking i will pay for this.

Yep, you can also find them, hem hem, 'listed' as Amracs or even Life-Likes. It is a 934...

The #32 on the Team USA example is from the year we won with 3 'yanks' and 2 'brits' on the team. The 934 on the Turbo chassis handles like a dream, on the hefty MR1 chassis it would be like using a Lexan

Lee - I found a couple of wings you can repaint.

I also found one of the Tyco airbox/cockpit pieces, which saves 0.35g over the standard MR1 item. I will give that to one of the guys who snagged the lighter bodies, whichever one wants it first...
