I picked up a 1975 Superspeed set at an auction the other day, I know its not worth much but it was mint, the cars and track have very little use, it still had stickers and braids in the box with the instructions and service sheets, in fact it looks in better nick than most 37 years olds I ve seen recently, and came with a no 16 catalogue.

My question is this, the set is in the catalogue as a C547, the box appears to have 3 reference numbers, the bottom one appears to end in an 8, the label above that has the C547 designation however that has been blocked out by a label coded G980 , this label appears to be as old has the box itself.

What does G980 mean?
