The 2012 event is to be held on Sunday, 8 January 2012.

Calendar entry here with full details.

We will have the usual mix of swapmeet tables (40+) and circuits. The last 2 years we have been 50+ tables.

Here is the local paper's write-up of the 2010 event Swindon Advertiser coverage (Mon 4 Jan 2010).

Unfortunately the Adver couldn't attend in 2011 but they have supported the event well over the years and if you click here you will see a number of older articles.

Swapmeets are getting a bit of a make-over at the moment and enjoying additional momentum with new events like the NSCC Northern and the UK Slot Car Festival plus new organisers with new ideas such as at Bishops Stortford.

So if you've never been to a swapmeet before, haven't been to one for a while or are interested in getting to more, then 2012 looks more promising than ever. So perhaps have a think about kicking the year off with a visit to Swindon.

Contact me at Swindon Swapmeet if you would like to book a swapmeet table. Tables are £30 for 6 foot (with space for paste table) and £10 for 3 foot (no space for paste table).

Hi,
Bishops Storford swapmeet is on the 16th October 2011 (Sunday).
To be held at the Rhodes Centre, South Road, Bishops Stortford, Herts, CM23 3JG
Opens at 10am till 14.30pm.
Stallholder entry from 8am.
entry is £1 on the door.
Plenty of parking and I hear the venue is fully booked with sellers.
Contact details can be found in the NSCC journal or on their diary section on the website (www.nscc.co.uk).

Hope this helps.

For anyone who likes to plan their Swindon trip well in advance to get a good price on arrangements...

Travelodge currently has rooms at £29. I usually book months in advance for rooms for the swapmeets I attend and whilst £19 rooms are not impossible to get £29 is pretty good, especially for a Saturday. Prices invariably go up closer to the time.

The Travelodge is in the town centre, so close enough walking distance to the swapmeet (prob 10-15 mins), the railway station (if you come by train) at 5 mins walk and on the doorstep of all the drinking establishments for your Saturday night entertainment.

I am happy to donate stall-space to a Slot Forum stand if any of the moderators/seniors would like to contact me about this.

In conjunction with this I will look at providing some space for members to sell their own items. Please let me know if you would be interested in this so I can gauge interest.

I did offer a SlotForum table at no charge (see earlier in thread) but nobody came forward.

If you or anyone else would like to arrange this then I will try to fit something in. However there are 57 tables sold this year and it's very tight so the sooner I'm told the more chance we have of fitting something in!

Apologies if answering this breaks any rules but, any traders who will be selling Kyosho D slots on sunday? Running the HO track can be pretty hectic so if you tell me where to look you can relieve me of my money early doors.

Cheers

Slightly blurry, sorry, but a view of the FLBT tracks installed at the Oasis ready for tomorrow's show. On the left, the dragstrip, in the middle at the far end of the hall, the HO circuit, and over to the right, the 1/32 circuit. FLBT members marctownsend, dragrap, andyslots and karl perform various fettling tasks and our trackmate systems await tomorrow's laps.

Tomorrow morning our slotstox track will arrive and so will the Circuits to Scale rally track - subject of a brilliant build feature recently on Slotforum,

By 1100 tomorrow the tables will be full of swapmeet stalls and hopefully our club cars and controllers will be taking a bit of a hammering from the public and slotters alike.

Hope to see you there.

Best regards, Rob

A great turn out at Swindon today, well done Rob. The attendance was well up on last year, got to be going for the 500+ next year.

Thanks Robert(s) for organising a great day. Good to get the track out and used and it seemed to be appreciated.

Fastest lap was Ben from the Wye valley club ( I think) Some please correct me if i'm wrong.
He won a Circuits to Scale T shirt and calendar. with a time of 51.143s. Not far off my quickest time of 47.881s, but it is my track.

Well done Ben!

We won't know the final attendance for a few days as the door is run by the centre, but we know it was in excess of 400. This is at least 20% up on last year but still somewhat behind the highest attendance of 645 in 2006. We're working on it and have a few ideas to get more in next year.

I'll be posting some pictures on our Facebook page later this evening; http://www.facebook.com/SwindonScalextric

Yes Ben is a Wye Valley member
Am I right in thinking that Reece was second and Phil F third? If so it was a Wye Valley 1-2-3

Great track, we`re looking forward to having a run in "earnest" at SRGB.

Cheers - Phil B
