A bit of sunny day, self indulgent fun with a camera and a rally car. It really needs sound effects.

The diorama is in a 1:32 Carrera box.

I was scratching my head trying to make sense of that, until I read Jaak's comment and the penny dropped. Would have to be roo poo, or else The Goodies' Big Bunny has re-appeared.

Jaak the short grass is done with 10mm long static grass fibres from Noch. The long grass is cheap sisal string dyed with acrylic paint, combed and glued in place. The ferns are a 1:35 laser cut paper kit from Kamizukuri.

They come in a sheet like this

And with patience and a steady hand become this

If I'd been thinking straight I'd have grabbed my Escort muddy instead of His Lordship's Focus. The Focus was simply the first rally car I placed my hand upon.

You may notice from the rear quarter that His Lordship is working on 'weathering' it the natural way, by banging into scenery. At least now I know where the silver paint on my armco is disappearing to.

Oh Lynne,

Sorry for the amount of questions but just spotted the Poison Ivy-ish climbing plant on the Wall,
also a great piece of modeling...how did they come to life?

It says something of the quality if you can make close ups like that and get away with it

No problems on the questions Jaak. For my money, it's what this place is about.

OK. I've long had a bit of a phobia about doing any kind of foliage in these slot box dioramas. Actually I have enough of a problem with greenery on the track at the moment, but these slot boxes are intended for close up viewing.

The creeper over the wall is a combination of two different things. The main structure could be made from weed roots or something similar, but I've not managed to find anything in my yard that seems suitable. So, I splurged and bought something that I found listed on a hobby supplier website.

Not sure what it really is. It could even be "Old man's beard" or a similar epiphytic moss.

Then I've used "Army Painter Battlefields XP Poison Ivy"

Found it on ebay when I was trying find what I could use for ivy.

Oooh. I just realised something. I don't think I've posted any of the other slot box dioramas here.
I suppose I should probably rectify that.

Thats great Lynne,
in the '70s Matchbox did some "airfix" style models, WW11 vehicles mostly and they came with a diorama base. I always prefered them to the equivalent Airfix offering for that reason.
Think its time to practise diaoramas using the ninco etc bases that I have so that I'll be ready when I've moved and start on a permanent track.

I've not logged in for a while but just had to to complement you on the this and the other boxes you have done!

Really impressed with the mud/puddle effect and then ferns....well lets just say I will be ordering something from the Kamizukuri site when I'm in a position to add that level of detail!

Keep up the good work.
