Hi there,

Since last week I was thinking for a cool car to run at my local slotcar club.
They've got several classes and one of which was the touring class.
All the touring cars form the DTM,BTCC,WTCC etc are involved in this class.
Now i've already got a car for this class an Ninco clk dtm which runs very well. But it's not really my car so I thought what car will stand out in this class.
A VOLVO OFCOURSE!

So I got online and tried to look for a car that i could convert for this class and I found the scx volvo rydell edition for just 5,95 euro.
The advert said that the car was mounted on an ninco chassis and that the motor wouldn't run.
So i decided to buy it since I was going to put in another motor anyways.

Finally after much anticepation I finally got my volvo and it looks well... Like it was made in the same time that it was running in the btcc which is a long time ago.
But there is definitely potential in the model. So I started to open the car and I noticed that the cars wasn't running because one wire wasn't connected to the guide...
Saved me about 7 euro's
!

So finally i can get started with repainting and refinishing the car!

Things that need to be done.

- Complete respray
- Decals
- Other wheels ( probably Slot it BBS )
- Driver to the other side
- Change spoiler
- Eventually lights

P.S: I'm also gonna try and make a Volvo 1994 btcc estate version if I find another one.

Update

Taken the decals of and I am now putting primer on the body.

Two things I've noticed, the decals are propably not reusable because they are just stickers.
And secondly the body is so soft that it gives a new meaning to the word floppy...

Meanwhile I'll give you some new pictures

Update 2

I've painted the car and i'm quite satisfied, I still need to find a better spot to paint my projects because there's still some fibres on the body. But on the whole I'm pretty pleased.
Tomorrow I will work on the blue accents and maybe even finish the color scheme.
Let's wait and see.

Update 3

I've been painting all morning and I'm very thrilled about the result.
It took me about 6 hours but now the paintjob is almost done.
I have managed to keep some of the decals that were on there, most importantly the btcc racing numbers which were the one's i really needed to keep intact.
I've also cut the spoiler to the right size.(The side bit's were way to long)
Unfortunately i couldn't keep the big 850 logo's so I'm thinking of painting those on. (Especially the grey area is very boring right now)
Here are some pictures and the car I've moddeled the paintjob on.

Update 4

I've now seen why the grey area was so boring, it was missing the whole black area

So I painted that piece and painted the 850 on the sides which is easily the toughest bit I have done in this "upgrade".
I've also ordered some Q8 decals so the car and that's really the thing I am waiting for.
Tomorrow I'm going to order 4 Slot it Rims that match the car and maybe try to race tune it as well.
I'm not going to do the big blue 850 0n the bonnet because looking at the white 850 logo I think it's only going to ruin the result. Maybe I'm going to put a large Q8 logo on it or just leave it Blank.
What do you think I should do?

Things I've done since update 3

Paint the black area
Paint 850 on both sides
Glued the Volvo Grill in place
Painted details like the blinkers and the mirrors.
Give the windshield a black contour line

So far I am very pleased about the result and I can not believe how quickly you can make something much more realistic.

Okay, now that I've got it running I'm pretty pleased with it. I've been looking for some rims that would fit nicely under the car. I ended up with Fly panoz rims.
The overall result is quite pleasing, altough I wished I had removed the windscreen before spraying the last clear coating over the body...

I'm going to put lights and brake lights in it to really finish the job, and I'm currently painting his competitor. A renault laguna btcc.
