Thingie Race in Parma

Gentlemen
when in Turin, last May, Giovanni Montiglio mentioned a big Thingie race near Parma around October, on a modern wooden track they use for fast contraptions (Eurosports and such).
If you have details please post them here.
I will be contacting Jo for further info soon.
Thanks
Edo

This is a fantastic venue with the large eight lane "worlds" track and a large Ninco track as well, loads of pit area and several drinks machines!
It says that its for 1/24 pre 73 cars, are we talking "scale" or are we talking Tottenham type handling cars?
[oneofwos]
Hi John,

I'm pretty sure it's for scale cars and production thingies, Cucs etc., as we discussed last night. I thought I'd post here for the benefit of others.

Perhaps you could contact Joe or Franco to clarify as you speak the lingo.

Cheers

John
John, it is, I believe, being run to Turin rules, but so far we don't have the actual regulations, maybe if one of the Italian guys has some more info he can post it here.
I will be booking flights for this next week when Derek get backs from holiday, Ralph will be joining us on the trip as well.
QUOTE Reason for edit: typo - I hope!

Bemused??? If I did type something naughty it was a typo. Sorry

PM me if neceassary

Cheers

John
John,

Nothing really naughty, depending on your point of view: you wrote "Sucs" instead of what I assume was meant to be "Cucs".

I do know that you have a sweet tooth of course...

Cheers,
Don

Thanks for that Edo, as it isn't yet confirmed I'm glad I hadn't booked a flight yet, though a weekend in parma does have it's appeal even without slotcars!

Thanks Edo;

The rules for the Sports/GT category aren't too specific: is it like Turin, with only production slot cars eligible without penalty?

Don

Hi Don

indeed, like in Turin, Sport/GT original models with chassis and body of the same company and motor of the same type belonging to the original car.

Will you come? Hope so, you don't want to miss the amazing display of cut up Cucs I will be bringing, do you?

Is there a specific reason for disallowing RIGGEN thingies?

Ciao,

Marco

Would like to race my Mach1 ;-))
Markus,

That list was drawn up in another time, another place and another universe.... a parallel universe where Riggen never existed, and everybody used Eldon tires on their HO Thingies.

So in this particular universe you may run your Mach 1....

Don

So its black rubber tyres only for the Sports/GT, does that include silicon?

[oneofwos]
See less See more
Yes John black rubber only for Sport/Gt (free colour and sponge for Thingies).
Silicon allowed in all classes.

QUOTE (Markus Reichl)...Is there a specific reason for disallowing RIGGEN thingies?...
Actually no, unless it's the anglewinder version of this stamped chassis:

QUOTE (JOHN SECCHI)So its black rubber tyres only for the Sports/GT, does that include silicon?
So Don Secchi,

will you come with silicone tires and ruin track traction for the rest of the cars?

PS Added Riggen Thingies on the above list.

Hi Franco, thanks for that.

Edo
Personally i would't allow silicon as it would screw the track up for Mr Trigilio & co, it's a big track to clean!

On the suject of silicon, are "capped" or silicon coated foam tyres eligible?
Silicon or not i will probably be running at the back of the field trying to avoid flying rivets and other assorted scale debris!

I have a question
about question # 8

"8. The chassis, the body and the type of motor have to be from the original model. As "type of motor" is intended the can such as D16, D26, D36, X88, etc."

Are you meaning only original body's or like the original body ?? but, new re-pops of these body's ?
Also, "type of motor" meaning no modifications above replacement parts ??

inquiring minds want to know

i-ray

PS do you have a better picture of the " Riggens Cyclone II " also looking for the Mach 1 repop ?

QUOTE (JOHN SECCHI)...On the suject of silicon, are "capped" or silicon coated foam tyres eligible?..
John,
I will ask Franco but are'nt we a bit persnickety about tires? Could we not just slap on Ortmann's on Sport/GT and foamies on Thingies and go race?

QUOTE (one27ray)Are you meaning only or like the original body ?

Hi Ray,
if you want to win the Sport/GT concours car must be all original save the motor, which anyway has to be the same kind the car was originally mounting.
The Thingie's race has no concours so, I guess (it's not me who makes the rule) repops are fine as long as they are copies of original Thingies as per list above.

Here's the Riggen Cyclone (similar to Classic Serpent but wider):
