Just a quick note that OnTracks has a number of Fly cars for thirteen pounds. Apparently the cars are new, just the packaging is tatty according to the site. Lots of 908/3's and Chevrons, a few Flunders and 917/10s plus others.

Thanks, Tropi, for the original tip about this site - I just scored some cheap donor cars for a few resin kits.

Q for the admins: does this kind of post violate the forum rules for promotion?

I don't see anything wrong with it.

I've bought from OnTracks before and they're very nice. I did order the Challenger from them and they did think that it was a simple matter of phoning Hornby and getting it in, this was in the summer, but they were slightly amazed that it was not available. The order is still open.

Nuro just beat me to it!

Thanks very much for the heads-up, 550rs - I had missed this one!
These are unbeatable prices and the ONLY way I will buy Fly currently. It shows well the power of the internet and, in particular, our friendly and freely information exchanging site. Pats on the back alround.

I did my deal by telephone, which included Carrera and Cartrix cars, and it was highly gratifying to have Fiona from On Tracks remember me. I also took the opportunity to mention our site - the word is spreading nicely.

Oh, I don't know Scott - as a major customer, they probably have a sensible arrangement - they sell a ton of railway stuff as well as slots. Very nice people too.

I placed an order with them yesterday.

I brought two cars- a Carrera Audi R8R and a Fly lancia thingy. Both only £12.99.

Got an email from them today saying that the Audi had been discontinued or no longer available, even though it stated that there was 2 in stock when I ordered.

Ah well, not to worry... They seem very freindly anyway.

Don't feel too bad Mk2-Escort. Next time I'll wait until I get the order confirmation through BEFORE I post a link like this -- none of my order is in stock and one is no longer available. But the note was nice enough and Nuro and Tropi's recommendations about their service are more important than stock availability.

Tropi must have used that silver phone manner of his to snaffle bits from other people's Internet orders. Here was me thinking my timezone (GMT/CUT +11) works to my advantage
Curses, foiled again.

I'm so sorry you guys didn't get what you wanted.

Except for the occasional dealer who runs a 100% totally tight, internet based service, linked directly to computer stock, there will always be the chance of this happening, unfortunately. This is one reason I always phone my orders, where possible. I also tend to download the advertised list well in advance and print it and spend a good deal of time making a prioritised list, with alternatives, in case a certain model happens to be out of stock when I phone. I also make sure my list is a good deal longer than the number of cars I intend to actually buy. This way, I can be pretty sure that I know what I am actually going to get. I sound SO organised don't I!
I'm not really - ask any of my friends - a complete shambles normally!

Sure Tropi, sure. I bet you emailed 'Fiona' a pic of your natty little sports car, you sly old fox. That car has worked for you here before if I remember

But you ARE right, ordering on the 'Net is a bit of a gamble but when it pays off, life is sweet.

550, you can adapt the system to ordering purely from the net and at least reduce the gambling element a bit.

MRE had a half price sale in the early summer but insisted that this only applied to net orders - no phone calls. (The phones go completely bloody mad in a really hard hitting genuine sale!) So I did the usual pre-listing, with around 50% extra cars in my order of preference and Emailed them stating something to the effect of "any eight from these twelve". The 'magic figure' of eight was to achieve maximum discount on a sliding scale which was what made it so important not to be a few short, in which case the price per car would have risen! I wasn't certain EXACTLY which eight I would get but I did get eight cars I liked, and at half price and was very happy with them! A few other people did the same thing after I laid out how to do it and I think everyone was reasonably pleased with the results.

"Thirteen pound Fly"
I thought this was going to be a thread about monster mutant bugs!
Or at least 'lead sleds'!
Good tips though!
