hi there
looking for any recomendations you guys might have for controllers
me an the lil one run normal scalextric sport ones and to be honest
with some of the cars we have they just seem to be on off switches
have heard that 25 ohm or 40 ohm controllers are better and give more control
any recommendations for two relatively new to sport addicts??

the higher the ohmage rating, the more finite control you have, the lower the throttle, the less there is, but 25 ish is good for large club circuits because of the cars we use.

BUT for home use a lot of people swear by the proffessor motor controllers which are electronic, but my personal preferance is resistor type.

first yes fly vipers are little rockets but a blast to drive

controllers - if you are running lots of different levels of magnetic downforce e.g Fly Viper (lots of magnet) or Ninco Jaguar XK120 (no magnet) etc you will find the standard controllers inadequate. The standard controllers will be fine with low/no magnet cars but as you state like on/off switches for other cars.

If you find yourself just running cars with magnets then a 25ohm or 45ohm controller from Parma or Red Fox will do you wonders(£18-£25 for economy models). However if you run lots of diff magnetic downforce cars and you don't want to have to swap over controllers then a Professor Motor controller (£35-£40 for basic model) is the way to go. It will work with all your car giving you a smooth linear response all the time making all your cars a joy to drive. I use a PM for home and club racing

The difference is that scaly, parma and red fox controllers are resistor based whereas the PM is a diode contoller that will ensure a smooth response to all your cars.

The Parma and Red Fox controllers are avaialble from most of the well known on-line retailers but all of them including the basic PM controllers are available at GetSlotted

Hi, I run on a home scaley track (about 10meters), and with magnets. I have a 40 ohm and a 25 ohm controller. Most of my cars like the 40 ohm best, the 25 ohm being to sensitive for good control. A few cars do need the 25 ohm though. I use red fox, which are great except sometimes the brake line beomes unreliable and needs fiddling with. Thinking of getting one of the new fly controllers...

Since the Professor Motor controller came out, it is the ONLY controller I use for anything in my box with less than a Group 12 motor.

Professor Motor......The last word in my opinion. I am forever spoiled by the great control over all my motors. They are indeed linear and very comfortable in the hand. We race every day and nothing compares.
