Hello Martin,

Yes, saw those bargains on there yesterday. Not sure if there's another class in there. There's five different Mustang and Camaro liveries, so possibly a 'Modern Muscle Car' class?

The GT cars on offer there are probably too close to what we're already running in the Scaley LMP/GT class.

I like the look of that Ninco1 Renault Megane on there though. Michael had a couple of these with him down at the Oval two weeks ago. Nice looking models. That would be an interesting different class, perhaps, though with only one livery in their special offer, any bulk buy of these would mean lots of re-spraying etc so we're not all running the same livery. I'm happy to have a crack at this if we're all going to chip in for our own personal car (though I've never done this before!) Any thoughts on this?

I'm off work on leave at the moment so have already popped along to Tesco this morning and picked up some doughnuts etc - so plenty to go round!

Hello Michael

The Ninco Renaults would make a great second championship - run the NASCAR championship on the Oval and the Renaults on the GT track.

I'd love to race more than twice a month - it would be tricky for me, but not impossible. Alternate weeks might be one way of doing it. That way, we'd get more racing but less trouble balancing this with other commitments.

Looking at the 2012 calendar, racing alternate weeks in a season which ran from Thursday 5 January to Thursday 13 December you would of had a total of 26 race nights, and you'd have had three months (March, May and November) where you raced three times instead of just two.

How you split up those 26 sessions depends very much on how many different classes you want to run. I could be wrong, but I suppose this club is probably quite unique as you have the option of two different track layouts to use: the oval and the full GT track. It depends on how long you want each championship to run for, but just as an example, I thought you could break-up a full season as follows:

NASCAR Club Class (OVAL) - 6 rounds
Renault Megane Club Class (GT TRACK) - 6 rounds
GT/LMP (GT TRACK) - 6 rounds
SCX COT (OVAL) - 4 rounds
American Muscle (OVAL)- 4 rounds

I'm just making suggestions here, of course, and one based on the huge assumption that everyone will think a second club class involving a single-make hot-hatch/touring car type format is a good idea.

Perhaps, if we do run a second club class on the GT Track for the Meganes, we could run a different race format to the NASCARs and the GT/LMP classes and run a series of sprint heats with no re-fuelling?

Would six rounds be enough for the club class championships? Maybe yes, maybe no. But I'd be loathe to give up one of the other classes to accommodate more championship rounds. The variety is a good thing and - I think - important. The above suggestion for how a season would look gives something for everyone. A championship for each track layout, plus the existing other classes.

Let's see what everyone else thinks, but that's my two cents'!

I have a few Ninco cars, though admittedly these have never been properly raced, so I've never had to find out the hard way how flimsy they are. They're all a bit on the noisy side, mind.

Shame about the hall, hopefully you can sort out an alternative venue for the 31st. If not, do you plan to run the GT class on the oval, or will you swap it with one of the American Muscle or NASCAR rounds planned for later in the season?

Hello Lee

A new Stevemobile has been purchased. The step-by-step move from 2-seater sporty fun (Mazda MX-5) to sensible practicality (via BMW 3 Series then Vauxhall Astra) has been completed. I am now the proud owner of my first estate car!

I'm mobile again and will be there next Thursday! Is it club NASCARs or the SCX ones?
