basically, building a track and i'm looking to get a tunnel thats 5 or 6 long straights long, and was hoping ot stick some led's in it, anyone any idea how to make a tunnel as i was hopin to have it sort of half-oval rather than straight edged?

any pics would be great of the construction

Depending on the height clearance that you want, you could possibly use a large cardboard tube and cut it in half-ish as your base. Another option would be PVC pipe similarly cut. Of course, things are simpler if you'll accept a square profile rather than the round one.

If it's straight, as you say, you could ( conceivably) make a series of identical profiles of the opening shape from MDF, connect them with stingers that will establish the long dimension, and provide a surface to attach the tunnel "skin" which could be card stock or something like this:

thanks for the help, think im goin down the plastic tubing route within a square woodin cover, just to hide the wires and support whats above the tunnel. will tryn get some pics up when i get the chance

I saw a preformed tunnel for either O or G scale model railroads and wondered if that might work. Price was cheap but no room in the luggage
to take on the plane so left it behind. They are molded styrene or the like and look similar to Route66's tunnel (well not exactly like that but I think you get my drift.... thin shell painted on outside open inside).

Just a thought... maybe check out the model RR sites for some ideas? Their scenery books have many ideas in them.
