I'd been wanting to make a machine to move the sanding plate of my Tire Razor for a while, but procrastinated long enough for Kev (OXO_cube) to design and share one for his machine. He has a similar machine, but it's not a Tire Razor, so I had to make some modifications. I ended up making a lot more changes than planned, and every part was more or less changed from the original.

Green Rectangle Wood Gas Machine

You can download everything for free from the link at the top of the post. The parts are not hard to find, and are specified on that same page. However, if you'd like me to do all the work, or are unable to print your own, please feel free to PM me. I'm selling completed units (TIRE RAZOR NOT INCLUDED) for $40 USD, which includes shipping within the USA. International shipping is available at additional cost. Other color options are available. For example, I have recently shipped these two units.

Thanks to Kev for sharing his original design!

I'm shaking my head (gently) in disbelief and wondering just how lazy you have to be to want one of these doo-dahs?

Bonus observation; is there a device in the pipeline that will automatically tighten the height adjustment to keep lowering the axle so it stays in contact with the sandpaper after some rubber has been removed??🤔

I presume that idea was killed off after the phone rang and when he came back the tyres were ground to the wheels :ROFLMAO:

Do you have a tire razor style machine?

Let's just say I'm not in the market for an 3d-printed doohickey.🙄
It wouldn't surprise me if he even has a truer...sandpaper on a bit of old scaley track maybe ;)
I resent that! I'll have you know I moved to Ninco track years ago!🧐

Then I'll assume you don't have one so don't understand how tedious it is to sit there moving it manually for what can be over an hour per wheel or axle. I can now do other things between turns of the level adjustment.

Since you're here, talking about things you don't like, have a look at this!

Are you attempting to bait me?🧐 If so, you assume too much my flippant friend. I do have a razor and I'm fully converted to the Church of Glued and Trued. Wholly converted. Evangelical, almost.

Why, only today I finally got the bits to do 3mm axles so my 1:24 will soon be on the bench.

But I don't find it tedious. Patience, as my dear departed mother was wont to say, is a virtue.🙏

Actually, I find the process of truing quite Zen-like. But don't spend anything like an hour on a set of BRM tyres. But on that side of things, I do often listen to a podcast as I sand. Time, very well spent.👍

For everyone but Wankel, if you want one of my complete reciprocator kits (e.g. all printed parts, gear motor, and screws supplied, along with a few spare screws), the price has been lowered to $40 US. This includes shipping in the US, and should not be expensive to ship elsewhere.

I need one, in the process of ordering!
Time saved trueing the tires = more track time!

Well done Greg!

Did anyone else read the post on another forum from Mr Tire Razor...he's had covid and it's affecting him badly with silicosis thrown in to the mix. There won't be any production this year and foreseeable future.

Yes, it was very sad to hear. I hope he is able to recover.
I was not expecting any more Tire Razors to be made, but it would certainly be great if he is able to make more in the future.
