Not to hijack the Revell news thread....

For the sake of Eno Dog:
QUOTE How come they're making slot cars of things I've never even heard of

Well, if you've never heard of the car, you'll not have heard of the jokes.
I think the same jokes circulated UK but aimed at Moskovich....

Four Russians running down a Moscow road carrying a Trabant.
Man on the sidewalk calls out "Ha, your Trabant broken down?"
"No" replies one of the four "It works fine"
"Then why don't you get in and drive it instead of carrying it?"
"Normally we would, but today we are in a hurry"

Why does a Trabant have a heated rear window?
To keep your hands warm whilst you push it.

Have you heard of the new "high tech advanced" Trabant?
Sixteen valve.
Eight in the engine, eight in the radio.

And so on.........

That's truly excellent Tom! I'm hanging for these little beggars to come out now. With Russell's influence I also need the Carrare pit floozies to go with them.

What a bloody silly thing to be excitedly waiting for..

Trabant wasn't Russian.
They were an Eastern German thing before we tore the wall down. Now the trusty old Trabants are frequently raced all over Germany.
I have somewhere an old photo I think Thomas gave me, of a Trabant where the owner had removed the body (8 bolts or something) and turned it round, refitting the lights and dash etc to suit. This is how he drove it. I will try and dig it out.
Size wise for those not aware of these little pieces of auto history they roughly match the NSUs.

Oh come on, Swiss, don't exaggerate - more like two dollops of chewing gum and a bit of 2nd hand string!

You're probably confusing it with Scalextric's over-engineering of body fitment to chassis.

In SwissRacer's link there's a cracking photo of some 60's dinner suited individuals coming out of a swish hotel to get in their Trabi.. it's a beautiful thing!

Another old joke

A man goes into the spares department and asks if they have a petrol filler cap for a Trabant...........

Yeah, seems like a fair exchange
