If your budget can afford it use DMX controlled lighting, stunning effects and great control of scenic lighting.

You can also use your software to switch lights on when certain things happen, ie crash or fastest laps.

Cheap way of lighting with LED's
You can buy 5M roll of LED lights on eBay for around AU$11 from honkers.
Each roll has 300 LED's and can be cut to length.

Grainy photo as I didn't want to use the flash but shows what is possible.
Not finished yet as I am waiting on another roll.

Cheers

Hi,

DMX stands for 'Digital Multiplex'. What is being referred to by benj is probably DMX 512, which is a networks communications standard used for stage lighting, show lighting, disco lights, etc. It can be used for model light controls, too. I know that German LDT market their '[email protected]' software and hardware for this specific purpose based on the DMX standard bus and protocol. I have no experience with the system, though. Their product info in English can be found here.
