Hi,
DMX stands for 'Digital Multiplex'. What is being referred to by benj is probably DMX 512, which is a networks communications standard used for stage lighting, show lighting, disco lights, etc. It can be used for model light controls, too. I know that German LDT market their '[email protected]' software and hardware for this specific purpose based on the DMX standard bus and protocol. I have no experience with the system, though. Their product info in English can be found here.
