The trouble comes in the fact that there are so many variables.
I run non-magnet and have just painted my Scaley Sport track using Dulux Designer Suede applied with a taklon brush over an undercoat of Dulux 3 in 1 Primer/Sealer/Undercoat also applied with a natural bristle brush. The painting was done primarily for aesthetic reasons.
Looking on a grip basis. Things have most definitely changed. Note, I run all tyres trued but untreated.
Racer rubber that was previously ok now hook up best of all. Ninco are about the next in line.
MJK urethane which used to be the preferred are currently toward the bottom of the grip lists. However a homebrew urethane formulated by an 'evil doctor' is right up there with the rubber.
This is merely the way things stand with a fresh paint job. I fully expect grip to evolve with running in much the same way as it did on plastic alone.
I would expect the same paints applied by the same method on a wooden surface would produce the same results.
