hi guys

We had a very good night with 11 racers of an assortment of abilities turn up for the 1/24 production night. Our local super star, Gavin was literary in a class of his own. No he was in a class of his own as he ran a Group 12 saloon and everyone else was using a Falcon with a sports body. James Cleave turned up but was off the pace with a slowing motor. Just about everyone was using the Jk chassis with the exception of myself, pro-slot, and Little Andy who borrowed a Champion turbo flex for his maiden event from ****. The number 11 is a significant miles stone as it means we had a FULL GRID OF 6 racers. This combined with the inherent dangers of 1/24 cars, bigger = closer together. Novice drivers so lots of overtaking. This could have lead to some impressive aerobatic displays. As it was the racing was very well behaved and the only unfortunate story was **** K.
This was a good turn uot for the club and there are more of our guys have 1/24 production cars that weren't there so bigger and better is still on the cards.
If you read this **** could I ask you to pop the full results up.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Tuesday night this week, 23rd Agust, is cancelled.
Sorry about this but it seems that almost all of the regulars are either working away or on holiday.
With only two people likely to turn up the decision became inevitable.
Hopefully back to a full turnout next week for G12 Saloons.
Cheers.
****.

22/11/11 - 1/24th Falcon Production. A lot of close and entertaining racing this evening. The first heat saw Gavin blow his motor on the only Falcon Production he had with him, meaning he raced the rest of the evening with a GP12 saloon. This gave some good close racing, especially with **** T due to the different characteristics of the two cars. David F also suffered in the first heat with a "wheezing" car. Lack of oil or duff bearing? He did manage to keep it going the entire evening though. David was however strangely quiet this evening having been admonished apparently at Wolves at the weekend for using his favourite saying when de-slotting!! Steve has to be awarded the trophy for the best aerobatics of the evening, landing on the floor at least 6 times. Is this a new track record?? And will Gavin try to beat it next week?? Catchers mitts will be issued to the marshals!! Heat 9 saw a classic version of SlotStox with David B and Steve (bent car?) having numerous encounters with David F trying his best to "wheeze" through the carnage.
4 finals with the result being - 1st Gavin (5 new lap records for GP12 Saloon as these hadn't been set) - 2nd **** T (blowing on his hot motor having come through each final) - 3rd David "wheezing" F - 4th Kevin (4.22 on blue just shy of the fastest lap) - 5th Steve "Topgun" T - 6th David "can I use a SlotStox" B
Next week - 1/32nd Falcon F1 - all welcome

29/11/11 - Gavin wins the 1/32nd Falcon F1 race despite being handicapped with one hand tied behind his back or should I say one arm in a sling!

We ran 2 heats of 6 x 3 minute segments with the winner from any heat.

Heat 1 - Gavin, **** T and Steve T. Gavin and **** established an early lead over the first 2 segments. Steve T was struggling with a car that performed some beautiful pirouettes thus losing him his title of "Topgun" and ending more like "Torvill & Dean". A change of car did little to help. I guess those side pans need to be raised as tires grip much better than brass & steel. Segment 3 and Gavin managed to pull a 3 lap lead over **** before 2 further close segments, all the more impressive as ****'s motor was slowing from 5.3's to 5.9's. A final burst from Gavin in segment 6 gave him a winning margin of 8 laps over **** with Steve T some way back.

Heat 2 - David B, David F, Steve K and Kevin. Again, some good close racing with David B and David F being within 1 lap over the first 5 segments as were Steve K and Kevin. David F was back in vocal form with "B******S" announcing his despair at his numerous excursions into the wall, though to be fair, he did set fastest laps in some segments. Segment 6 saw David B and David F both on 145 laps with Steve K on 157 and Kevin on 158. All to play for with **** T also being on 158 at this stage. Good runs from both Kevin and David B settled the matter.

Final result - Gavin 197.66, Kevin 191.44, **** T 189.10, Steve K 186.69, David B 176.44, David F 172.37, Steve T 152.93.

Next week 6/12/11 - 1/32nd Falcon Production with a new race start time of 8pm. All welcome. We have spare cars and controllers available.

6/12/11 - Gavin wins 1/32nd Falcon Production

We ran 2x 6 segmented heat races.

Heat 1 - Gavin, Kevin and **** T. Steady racing from these three especially in the first couple of races as the track gripped up. Gavin's car looked particularly stable and he slowly extended his lead through out the races. Kevin's car was a bit tail happy due to over size tyres. Bring out the Hudy. **** T's car was just off the pace. Perhaps Father Christmas will bring some new Falcon 7's??

Heat 2 - Probably the better heat with Steve K, David B and David F. Mixed fortunes for these three, with Steve K matching Gavin in the first few races. David B settled down to win a couple of races as the heat went on in his usual steady style but was uncharacteristic in the first couple of races by tangling with David F on numerous occasions. David F had moments of inspiration getting fastest laps followed by dejection as his car threw itself into the wall then suffered a lack of oil with first a seized axle then after oiling and easing a constant wail.

Final Result - Gavin 213.31, Steve K 201.67, Kevin 200.59, **** T 199.65, David B 187.88, David F 163.0

Next week 13/12/11 - 1/32nd GP12 saloons (1/32nd Falcon Production cars also allowed). All welcome. We have spare cars and controllers available.

13/12/11 - Steve K wins 1/32nd Group 12 Saloon

We ran 2x 6 segmented heat races.

Heat 1 - Steve K, **** T and Kevin all ran Falcon powered cars. Excuses - Steve had stripped a gear, **** T thought we were racing D3 and borrowed a car, Kevin had blown a can ballrace!! Both Steve K and **** ran good quick races with Kevin's car just getting slower with a soft Falcon (another job for the Xmas break). With very few off track excursions the bar was set at around 200 laps for heat 2, Steve K leading **** T by just 1 lap, well done Steve.

Heat 2 - David B, David F and Steve T all ran GP12 powered cars. Mixed fortunes for these three. David F had a poor start on black which ultimately hurt his final position but gave strong runs on succeeding lane and finished the race with a car in perfect working order - Hurray. Steve T was also running well but could not match David F's pace. David B had a nightmare with a poor handling car. It appeared to be bottoming out but had plenty of ground clearance at the back, even when using second hand tyres. After a group consultation, Steve K finally diagnosed a "BANANA CAR". The chassis was bowed down in the middle hence the grounding. After some inspired bending the car did run slightly better.

Final Result - Steve K 202.64, **** T 201.65, Kevin 197.36, David F 196.94, Steve T 188.32, David B 165.29

Another good result was the heating system that David F provided. Well done David.

Next week 20/12/11 - 1/24th D3 CanAm and 1/24th D3 Saloons - A Wellingborough speciality - 2 races for the price of one!!

All welcome. We have spare cars and controllers available.

20/12/2011 - Win for James Cleave in D3 CanAm

12 drivers for this ever popular class at Wellingborough. With 2 full grids of 6 and with 4 new drivers, this was always going to be a good night.

Heat 1 had James pulling a 3 lap lead in the 1st race which he steadily increased during the subsequent races. Steve T was using a fast car but several offs held back his scores. **** T was suffering from a slow motor having blown his first Falcon (Father Christmas now needs to bring you 4 or 5 Falcons by my reckoning). **** K, Gavin and Kevin all had good runs. A special thanks to those who were marshalling for the first time, not easy with 6 cars on track.

Heat 2 had David F establish an early lead which he held until race 4 when his car suffered a seized axle? Perhaps Father Christmas will bring you some oil? David B then took the lead which he held to the end, winning by 38 parts. Christopher Clements did very well in his first event showing good speed with a D3 car. He has raced before in 1/24th scale in South Africa and will be one to watch, school hours permitting. Younger brother Nicholas was also running well by the end of the heat. John Gregory, first time racer, and friend Graham Dale, born again racer from the 60's, also had an enjoyable evening with both having some good close racing.

Results
1. James Cleave
2. Gavin Wills
3. Steve Taylor
4. **** Kerr
5. Kevin Colman
6. **** Thomson
7. David Buddle
8. David Farrow
9. Chris Clements
10. Graham Dale
11. Nicholas Clements
12. John Gregory

03/01/2012 Gavin starts the New Year with a win in 1/32nd Falcon F1

8 drivers for this first event of the New Year.

Having spent time cleaning the track, Heat 2 was run first as it included 2 junior racers. Chris Clements was 2 laps ahead at the end of the first race. Unfortunately this did not last as Chris tried to push, only to find that Falcon F1 cars do not stay on as well as sports bodied cars. A lesson learnt that going fast does not make up for falling off. David F and David B (ever consistent) settled down to some good close racing with Nicholas Clements (younger brother to Chris) driving very well considering it was his first ever Falcon F1 event.

Heat 1 saw Gavin and Steve K running together for most of the heat with Kevin and **** T battling for 3rd place. Gavin was running a lap faster than Steve in most races to give a decent lead by the end. Kevin and **** traded the lead throughout the 6 race heat with **** leading Kevin by 1 lap with 1 race to go. However, in the last race **** had red lane and Kevin blue lane. Kevin managed to stay on whilst **** had a few offs giving Kevin 3rd place by 1 lap.

Results
1. Gavin
2. Steve K
3. Kevin
4. **** T
5. David F
6. David B
7. Christopher
8. Nicholas

10/01/2012 Gavin wins 1/32nd Production

10 drivers split into 2 heats of 6 segments based on last weeks results.

Heat 1 had Steve K and Kevin leading the first close race. **** T and David F were only a lap down with Gavin having a poor start on yellow. By half way **** had just pulled ahead of the chasing pack but a strong finish by Gavin gave him the heat win. Excellent close fast racing.

Heat 2 had Nicholas driving his first car. David B led from start to finish with a very consistent drive. Chris continues to show great potential but, as with brother Nicholas, needs to master the art of staying on. It was Steve T's turn to drive a banana car with the middle of the chassis grounding and impeding progress, especially in the corners. John put in consistent lap times with a borrowed car and controller.

Results
1. Gavin
2. Kevin
3. David F
4. **** T
5. Steve K
6. David B
7. Chris Clements
8. Steve T
9. Nicholas Clements
10. John Clements

1/24th scale Falcon Production cars this week. 7th Feb 2011.
The first heat had Chris C, **** T, **** K and Steve T.
In the first segment **** K and **** T paced each other at the front until **** T had a series of offs which left him trailing in third and 6 laps down. Chris's car just did not have the pace of the others but he drove steadily and consistently to a reasonable result in the end. **** T was now into 'catch up mode' and with Steve T having a bad run on Red in the second segment he was soon back in second place. **** K continued to extend his lead getting it up to 12 laps by the mid point. Steve recovered from his bad run and he and **** T had a very close race for second which ultimately went **** T's way despite Steve putting in an excellent 37laps in the final segment.
The second heat had David B, Nicholas, David F and John C.
David F was in trouble even before the race started, blowing a motor in practice. He borrowed a car for the races but failed to fit fresh tyres to it and ended the first segment 4 laps down on a consistent David B. Young Nicholas was putting in some very fast laps but having far too many offs which ultimately cost him a good result. A quick tyre change for David F the saw him then close relentlessly on David B and by the last segment he was leading the heat and both Davids were up on **** T and Steve's scores from the first heat. However!!! David F made a complete hash of his final run on red and ended up second in the heat and only fifth overall. So David B won the heat and took an excellent third overall by just 14 parts from Steve and less than two laps down on **** T.

Full result.

1. **** K - 212.96
2. **** T - 202.27
3. Dave B - 200.45
4. Steve T - 200.31
5. David F - 198.65
6. Chris C - 188.45
7. Nicholas C - 180.96
8. John C - 150.88

Next week, 14th Feb, it's 1/32nd scale F1.

Win for Gavin in 1/32 Falcon F1 - Tuesday 14th February 2012

A damp evening and hard rubber on the track made for slippery racing especially with F1's.

The first race had **** T taking the lead from the first lap which he maintained throughout the 6 heats. Chris C again showed good speed but suffered with the slippery conditions. Steve T had a few ups and downs with some good racing intermixed with sliding off. David B was consistant as ever finishing second to **** T.

The second race had Gavin W, Kevin C and Nicholas C. Gavin was suffering from a lack of grip from the off and trailled Kevin until heat 5 when a pan support on Kevin's car broke giving him a disatrous heat on black. Gavin then maintained the lead in the final heat to take the overall victory. Kevin on blue just managed to pip **** T's 1st race total to take second. Nicholas C drove a very impressive race under the conditions and would have been awarded driver of the night if we had such a trophy!

1. Gavin W
2. Kevin C
3. **** T
4. David B
5. Chris C
6. Steve T
7. Nicholas C

The problem with the external key pad door lock is digit 6 not locking in. If you put in all the other digits/letters and then press 6 whilst turning the knob to the right it will open. Digit 6 needs to be pressed about 2/3rds of the way in.

Win for Kevin in 1/24th Production - Tuesday 13th March 2012

The track had ideal grip for racing 1/24th Production cars and for the first time this year the room felt warm and dry.

The first race had Chris C, **** T, Kevin C, **** K and David B. Right from the off the pace was hot with the leaders inches apart. After 2 heats Kevin and **** K were joint leaders with **** T 1 lap down and Chris and David B in close pursuit. **** T then had a strong run in heat 3 to become joint leader. Heat 4 saw Kevin move 1 lap ahead of both **** K and **** T. Kevin then put in a 41 in heat 5 on blue to give him breathing space for the final run on red and the race win. **** T on red in heat 5 managed to pull 1 lap ahead of **** K on black and both put in high 39's on the final run to give **** T 2nd in the first heat. Fast, close and very enjoyable first race.

The second race had Gavin W, John C, Nicholas C and David F. Gavin stormed off from the line to establish a 3 lap lead over David F by the end of the first heat. John and Nicholas were having their own private battle through most of the race. David F won the second heat closing Gavin's lead to 2 laps. Technical problems then beset David F after a heavy shunt with the motor working loose and poor/non existent gear mesh. David F had to change car, John already running a spare car after the pinion fell off his first car! Gavin continued to set a fast pace developing a snow plough technique when confronted with the carnage of John and Nicholas's battle and at other times passing through the melee without a scratch. With 1 heat to go Gavin was 2 laps down on Kevin's overall lead and 1 up on **** T. Gavin needed 40.73 on white which appeared to be running slightly down on power. Gavin managed 40.57 just 16 parts shy.

Final result
1. Kevin C
2. Gavin W
3. **** T
4. **** K
5. Chris C
6. David B
7. David F
8. Nicholas C
9. John C

A big thanks to all those who are progressing the new club room at Corby. It will be great to race without a leaking roof!
