That'll be winner's euphoria, Keith! Well done.

I slept so well, I overslept. Two man teams are a bit small for a 12 hour. Not that I've done much endurance racing.

Is Mr Hawkins organising it now? Is that because Mr Atkins isn't allowed to "go to Scalextric" any more?

I've added the later names to the list on Dave's post.

Well that's virtually 5 3-man teams already!

I meant to mention it last night at Liphook, but forgot.

But Gosport have supported us before so give them first shout.

QUOTE (aerodynamic @ 8 Feb 2011, 11:06) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Doing it on the day would be hopeless as there'd be too much sandbagging.

Geoff's not going as far as I'm aware

Looks like people are already self handicapping, Sandy.

Peter is racing with his family, Dave with some old friends and Keith has probably got Trigger with him if he wants to keep getting a lift to Liphook

I'll fit in wherever I'm needed.

Tony doesn't normally get involved for the whole day, so perhaps Sandy and Tony could be counted as one team member, with Sandy doing the stints until he has to go and then Tony taking over.

If there's plenty of people taking part, I'm quite happy to take on a non-participating organizational role. "Magic Cranes" is not my favourite format, all that leaping about and shouting out lane colours reminds me too much of the playground at infant's school!

Now there's a thought! Perhaps we could pick teams, like we used to pick sides for football at breaktime. I wonder who would be the tree hugger that nobody wants, left at the end?

So, to update this thread, we now have 4 definite teams.

Team Pressbutton - Pete, Steve, Boris and Adam
Team Lordy Keef - Dave L, Keith and Alan
Team Saga Sport - Nick, Will and PJ
Team Liphook-ish - Kev, Jim and Sandy/Tony

Then there's Wes, Andy and Trigger as the basis of another team or to be fitted into existing teams.

Is Dave H up for it? Perhaps Marc might be allowed out on a Sunday too.

We'll ask the other Monday night lads if they want to put in a team - Reverend Nick, Reuben, Robin and Ady.

Have I left any one out?

QUOTE (pressbutton @ 11 Feb 2011, 10:38) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The Gosport club often sends a team. Has anyone contacted them?

According to post#26, they have.

Love the avatar, Will. Sadly, I can even tell you what make it is!

We normally do a pizza order in the early evening.

Perhaps suggest people can bring their own snacks for the daytime.

I'll be there.

Kev sent me a text on Thursday night saying he was a definite. I think I'm going to insist that he at least comes racing this Thursday night to get his eye back in. Perhaps Wes can be our third man and we'll fit Sandy in to our team where we can on the day.

And you can do likewise for Andy.

Any more news on an away team yet?

PJ - each team does every lane for an hour. Twice!

Just realised - the "night time" stint is going to be interesting with unlighted cars.

A lot of credit is due.

To Dave for sourcing the cars for the event and for grabbing the bull by the horns and getting the event to the starting blocks.
To Tony for supplying the track for the day and being part of the winning team despite changing the gearbox in his road car out in the car park between stints.
To Peter, despite what he says, for organizing and running the raffle.
To AC Models, Eastleigh for very generously donating such a wonderful prize for said raffle.
To Pioneer for creating, with their first ever model, a slot car that can run to that level of performance and reliability.
To my team mates, Kev, Sandy and Wes, for making such a strong challenge for the race.
To all the other competitors for making it such a fun day, full of laughs, that flew by so quickly.
And also to the guy who brought his young son along to watch for a while, and donated so generously to the charity cause.

The figure raised that Dave gave us last night is very impressive.

And the grip on the track for club night was pretty impressive too!

The Gosport 12 hour is this Saturday chaps!

I think we ought to support them as they did in our early ventures into endurance racing.

According to their website they are short of teams.

I'll make the effort even though it's on a Saturday and I
detest "magic cranes"

Who else is up for it?

Ok guys, will have to get our act together a bit better next time. It has rather loomed up on us. I suppose as it is in a church centre, they can't really have it on a Sunday.

Sorry to hear your news, Keith, but I think perhaps in this case it was probably a blessed relief to all concerned.

I expect we will be able to find some help for Peter's team - there's certainly a couple of people who are coming along but can't stay all day.

My personal preference is to avoid the Ortmanns - we've never found anything wrong with standard Ninco tyres.

Last chance for some track experience tomorrow night if you fancy it, Andy.

Has new Sean been informed about the event?

Hi Peter,

Going on past years we tend to take some nibbles for throughout the day and then order in from the local tame pizza/kebab shop in the early evening. Even though it's in a fairly small village there is a convenience store and three different takeaways well within walking distance. Tea/coffee & cans of Coke available in house.

It looks like there are 4 teams, possibly a fifth made up of "extras".

The "club" is a commercial venture so there are controllers available, 45ohm Parma (not economy, the next ones up).

I think £10 per head was mentioned, but not sure, so hopefully Dave will confirm.

Easy to get to - coming south on the A3, after Petersfield/Butser Hill/Queen Elizabeth Country Park take the next exit signed Clanfield, go round and over the A3 and follow the signs down into the village. In the village, the road bears round to the left, but before you do you will see the Rising Sun pub on your right. Take the right turn before the pub (North Lane) and go up just further than you can see from the junction. When you see the scrap Transit van on the right covered in Bolwextric graphics, you're in the right place.

If we do end up with just 4 teams, what do people think about just using the inner lanes and going round three times? It would stop the situation we had last time of a couple of the teams getting runs with no "neighbours".

You were one of the four, Peter.

Stretching the memory but I think the first one we did, using the Ninco NSXs, the original tyres lasted all 12 hours. If RS have donated some Ortmanns it would be rude to refuse them. I would suggest that one pair are available to each team, because Ortmanns won't last all day and it will add a bit of tactical thinking to when you use your grip up.
