Hi,

Here's a pair of 1/32 scale Aurora slot car sets made in 1970-71. These cars & chassis are totally different from their earlier 1/32 scale cars. The sets are rather rare, and the Snake set even more so.

First, "The Snake Set" which had 26 feet of track plus a Ferrari 312p coupe & a Mirage coupe. These cars are difficult to find.

The second set is the "Stinger". This set has 14 feet of track plus a Mclaren M12 & a Ferrari 612. I also took a photo of another Mclaren M12 & Ferrari 612. There are a couple of photos of the two sets in the 1971 Aurora catalog. The last photo shows the 2 set boxes side by side so the difference in their sizes can be seen.

Thanks,
Bernard

Nice sets Bernard; the Ferrari 612 and the McLaren are seen relatively often, but the two others not! And all in great shape. Don't think Aurora did too well on these sets

Boss, if these were for sale they'd be in the Sale/Swap section... you might want to stick to PMs for this type of message...

Thanks Ted - do you have a link for RMS, and do you know if they do any glass separately? I have a Mirage, but without windows... ah, just reread your post, no Mirage I guess, or a mirage of a Mirage...

Bernard - those are beautiful sets! I cannot believe the stuff you have!

Don - My kits do have separate glass.

I am currently chasing yet another Mirage at the moment...let's see if I can ever get my hands on one.

"not sure it will fit other track systems". It did not even fit it's own track!! Aurora kept the original design for their A-jet 1/32 track, but someone in the organization must not have been talking: check out the spacing on the contacts underneath the cars. WAY wide! After release, they then had to "fix" this by coming out with a fiddly clip-on braid system so it would work on their OWN track, much less other brands. And I think you had to buy that extra! This stuff, apart from the Klein shaped bodies and the Russkit adopted controls, was a mess. No wonder it was a flop. Can't understand why this stuff is so hot for collectors apart from it's rarity.
