I just noticed on ebay one of the larger slot dealers posted that the 6" radius would be reissued in august of this year.
Can anybody confirm this for sure??

If they do,happy days are here again!!!

While this may seem like a dumb question...What exactly will that do for ya? Allow you to go 4-lanes wide and/or make tight turns for your layout?

I typically check with SlotCarWorld.com to verify stock on items. You might eMail them.

Also, since you seem to be an HO-Scale devotee...do you expect digital/multi-car pre lane racing to come to/affect HO-scale racing? Do you want it to?

...And most importantly...welcome to the forum

All slot cars are NOT created equal out of the box
It's what you do with them afterwards

Sorry you got short shrift on your welcome tileguy. ..WELCOME... admittedly this forum is Mainly about the larger slot car scales, but several members are knowledgeable on the HO side, and although I don't have any (apart from my Micro Scalex set over at Slot Tech), I would welcome input from a user of this smaller scale

I'm sorry about your not feeling welcome as well. But, SlotCarWorld features products of HO, 1/32 and 1/24 plastic or routed.

It would not hurt to give them a shot and see if they have answers. As Difflock said, these are mostly larger scale folk and don't know much about HO/follow it well.

Another forum, SlotCarIllustrated I believe has an HO section.

Tileguy,

Welcome to the forum.

I have both 1/32 and HO. In HO I have Tomy, AFX, Model Motoring, Mattel/Tyco and Tycopro.

The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, there are 6" 1/8 AND 15" 1/8 curves coming for Mattel/Tyco. No, they are not made by Mattel/Tyco. They are compatible. The same way the Tomy 18" 1/8 curves are "compatible" but not made by Tomy.

From all reports, the Tomy 18" curves are a perfect fit, so the Mattel/Tyco 15" and 6" should be as well. At least we can hope.

You can see a test photo of both at http://www.jaysraceplace.com/tycoslots2.htm

In answer to the question of what 6" curves allow you to do: You can create a 6 lane track, or a 4 lane track with different radius turns or make type hairpins. You can make better use of small / tight spaces. Make turns that start out tight and loosen up or start loose and tighten up.

Basically, it allows the same options that 1/32 scale plastic track gives you.

Thank you Matt,I'm looking forward to seeing these radius's.

Maltese, Pardon me for sounding cranky, I was having a bad hair day

I would like to learn about larger scale products as I know that this is where the rubber hits the road so to speak.I dont have the room at present but will be building a Garage in the next couple years with a Loft area. The Garage will be 28x42 so I am thinking i should end up with about 20 x 42 as a potential area for a larger track layout, work area and anything else i can fit up there for fun.Serious stuff stays on the main floor

A home routed track is where i am leaning(ive seen the special router bit available for routing the slot and braid.I understand that 1/24th scale drives and handles more like the real thing which peaks my interest
