Tyco track with custom curves

Hello again,

I’m planning a track for my basement, fixed to a table with approximately 3,15m x 1,00m. It’s mainly for MT and faster. As I want to race with my soon-to-be six year old son, his friends and their dads it’s supposed to be rather easy to handle on low voltages.

The bridge will elevate about 4cm from the ground level, the underpass will be lowered 4cm. So there’s a space of 8cm under the bridge.

Before mounting it on the table all track parts will be glued to Forex board (3mm or 5mm) to keep the track even. The curbs will also be glued to the Forex basis

The whole construction will be made of a combination of a wooden grid filled with XPS foam board and flat landscape made out of XPS as well. In the end the whole construction will be a foldaway table, as there’s not a lot of space.

What do you think?

Yes sir. Im fond of the figure 8, or "over and unders". Try not to force too much into a given space.

I think if you avoid descending radii to help keep the flow, and keep things simple; you really cant go wrong.

Nice track. Easy to marshal on both ends. (y)

"...all track parts will be glued to Forex board"--Bon_Slott

In my experience the connections between sections will degrade over time and require cleaning. Once you glue it down that becomes a very large problem--unless every joint has a jumper or is soldered from the top.

My track is a figure eight and I love it. "Line of sight" and room for your hand and the deslotted car under the overpass is also important, but your overpass involves long straights on both levels, so I think you are okay there.

I like your design.

ps--"Top Down" is very accomplished in custom sectional track fabrication.

cheers! All the metal rails of each track part will be soldered to a wire separately. So I don’t have to rely on the connections

Can you explain that to me?
Certainly--and I should have clarified to begin with. "Top Down" is a member here

And I think he has modified a significant number of pieces of sectional track.

That sounds great, any hints for glueing track pieces or for applying the conductor wires after customizing?
Funny coincidence: also posted my track building plans over at Slot racer.online and user “Top Down” already commented my plans. Hopefully he’ll share some of his wisdom with me. ☺

Some of the people here also frequent that forum. There's a nutty KensRedZed there as well. I saw your post and didn't want to double up. It's good to ask in both places. ;)

I really like Slot Racer for the proxy HO drag-racing.
