Dear All
With only 2 months left until the event we have enormous pleasure in inviting entries for what will be the fourth National Policar GP at the UK Slot Festival at Gaydon.
The event will be sponsored by Policar who will provide the track and prizes.
Pendle Slot racing will provide the power and lap counting machinery on loan for the day.
This year, like last, we will run a single day event, on the Saturday, in order to reduce the outlay for entrants in entering the museum and to allow those visting for two days more time to see the rest of the exhibition.
I will be organising everything prior to the event but in order to allow me more time on the day Mick and Rob Kerr and John Underwood have all very kindly stepped forward to help run the event itself. Anyone who has been to one of Mick's Rockingham events will know that he has vast experience in delivering a relaxed, fair and fun day's racing as well as being extremely competitive so we are in safe hands!
There will be two events on the day:
1. Standard Policar Classic F1 cars
2. CSCRA rules modified Policar F1 cars 1966-1982
The Rules are simple but vary for each of the races so read them carefully:
Standard Class
Eligible Cars:
Lotus 72
March 701
Ferrari 312B2
BRM P160
Any version of the above cars that are available from any UK retailer before the event will be eligible.
BRM P153
This car will also be accepted provided it is available from a UK retailer before the event.
Cars may be assembled from ‘white kits’ but must be accurate models of a version of the real car, be fitted with all the correct small parts and be fully painted in an authentic livery.
Body shell:
Body shells must be complete with all the small detail parts securely attached.
Mirrors may be omitted as they can fall off and become wedged in the slot.
Minor modifications to the body shells are permitted if done to represent a different version of the real car but you may be asked to prove the authenticity of any such modification.
Front and rear wings must be securely attached at the start of any race but need not be repaired during a race.
Front wings may have thin plastic or wire strengthening added underneath as these can be very fragile.
Note: Blue tack or sticky tape will not be regarded as secure attachment!
Chassis:
All chassis must be genuine Policar and may not be modified in any way.
Any of the March 701 models may be fitted with the updated chassis.
Grub screws to control the front axle height may be fitted into the holes provided in the chassis. Please ensure that these do not protrude below the bottom of the chassis.
Chassis and Body Screws:
Chassis and Body screws may be any from the Policar or Slot.It range.
Screws do not have to be done up tight but, if running loose, they must be prevented from falling out.
Guide:
The guide must be the original Policar plug in guide.
Screw fit guides will not be permitted.
Braids, Lead wire and Ferrules or Wire securing screws:
All of the above are free choice.
Motor:
The motor must be a standard Policar 25krpm FF050 with no modifications.
Motor Mount/Pod:
The motor mount must be the correct Policar pod for the car and must not be modified in any way.
The motor may be glued into the motor mount if desired.
Gears, Bearings, Shims and Axle Stopper:
Only original Policar Gears, Bearings, Shims and Axle Stopper may be used.
The Axle Stopper may have the grub screw shortened to prevent it from rubbing on the gear box casing.
The bearings may be glued into the motor pod if desired.
The rear axle must be fitted with a 17 tooth gear as supplied with the standard cars. The alternative gear ratios will not be permitted in the standard class.
Wheels and Inserts:
Front wheels must be the original Policar plastic wheels as supplied with the cars.
Rear wheels can be either;
The original Policar plastic wheels as supplied with the cars, or
the alternative Policar aluminium wheels.
The basis models now come with two different sizes of rear wheel and tyre.
The aluminium part chosen must be the correct size for the sourcing model.
All wheels must be fitted with the correct pattern of Policar wheel inserts for the car.
Tyres:
Front tyres must be the original Policar tyres as supplied with the cars.
Rear tyres can be either;
The original C1 tyres as supplied with the cars, or the alternative Policar F22 tyres to fit the wheels.
Tyres may be glued and trued but the lettering F.22. 12 19 must remain visible on the side wall of the F22 tyres.
Minimum diameter for the rear tyres is 20mm.
Front tyres must touch the track surface and roll when the car is placed on a flat tech block.
The maximum width measured over the outside of the wheels and tyres must not exceed 65mm.
This is an increase from last year brought about by the release of the Lotus 72E models where 62mm is not achievable.
Weight:
Weight may be added to the cars within the body and chassis.
No weight may be visible outside the car and no weight may be added to the bottom of the Chassis or Motor Pod.
Scrutineering:
All cars will be scrutineered before racing begins and will then be placed in Parc Ferme until the time for Racing.
Cars will be placed on the correct lanes by Race Control.
Drivers will then be allowed a few warm up laps.
The only thing that can be done to the cars once they have been placed on the track is to clean the tyres with sticky tape and adjust the braids.
No fluids may be used at this time or during the race.
Any further tyre cleaning, if needed, must be done during race time and not between segments.

To make this event more interesting and to see a wide variety of the beautiful machines that have been built we invite entrants to enter up to 3 eligible cars into concourse event. For clarity these cars need not be the one raced, however they must be capable of passing scrutineering and completing a lap of the track under power.
Trophies:
Trophies will be awarded for the racing and the concourse winners.
Entries Invited:
Please add your name to this thread below. I will update the list from time to time. I would say that approximately 20 entrants would be a sensible maximum for this event.
Entrance fees are £5 per class to cover the trophies and other small incidental costs. Any profit will go to charity.
