This is a test for me . A track I will be setting up in my garage with Revell.

I tried to get a track to be able to test speed , acceleration and braking. Essentially function over form.

If anyone has suggestions using the same sizes - will be very interested to see them

I made up an SSD version of Croft a while back. I was thinking ambitiously, and I seem to recall it is a full 1/32 replica. Overlayed on an aerial shot of the real track, it's about as close as I can manage with the track pieces available. I know it might be extra work, but is it worth having people post an image of the accompanying track file so we don't have to download it first to see what the layout looks like?

Great stuff stoooo.

I'm happy for this thread to take it's own course, but I'd say the best place to post layouts is in the Track Plans database.

As well as allowing people to filter the tracks shown by brand, type and scale, it also allows you to add images, and UR files, and automatically adds a post in this forum, so it covers all bases.

Well that's what I'm doing anyway. So all of these UR files will end up in the database, with a picture, track details, track pieces required, and links to more information. They'll also end up in a pinned topic at the top of the thread, where I'll gather together layouts with a common theme, such as "Real World Circuits" or "8'x4 Scalextric Tracks" or whatever.

The list here is just a start.

a test release of ultimate racer 4.0 is available to courageous testers at:

Major feature changes between rev 3.0 and 4.0:
- full 3d layout editor
- new gui based on cad designers
- group object management, including track sections
- new track library editor with 3d scenery object attachment
- track section emf textures replaced by more realistic png image textures
- 3d track section extrusion replaced by algorithms keeping track section lengths unchanged

I am adding an export feature in ur30. This ur40 release is for testers to collect first feedbacks

You definitively pointed a KEY feature!!!

Which issues did you faced (this release is being fixed)?

I'm having a lot of fun designing what will be my first track (scalextric digital). There's an excellent chance all three of my designs will have major problems that I am unaware of due to me being a rookie… ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE GREATLY APPREICATED. If they are ok, which would be the best??? (sorry if it's a dumb question) Cheers, Mick

Well, you've got squeeze R1s where standard R1s should be, no sensor track preceding the curved lane changers, and mixed up directionality, though it appears you have cars going from left to right across the power base. If you're using an ARC Pro, you have to go from right to left across it. I'd also strongly advise against the use of crossover curves and squeezes altogether. If it's a digital track, there will be car interaction in spades. You don't need to force it with things like that. Those were invented to mimic in analog what is provided by digital. Also, you have lane changers up next to banked turns. While the bank is not especially steep, lane change flippers can fall back into position if it's free to move as they should be, so it's best they are not tilted sideways like that. A full straight is usually enough transition to Scalextric banks.
