Well, nothing is impossible, but those Universal guide/pick ups are pretty complex, precision built pieces. I guess maybe the easiest way to deal with it could be to re-wire the track, omitting the bottom contact altogether and running it as if it were standard two contact track.
Anyone else with hands-on experience?

If you understand the German language then you will find that it is rather usual (in Germany) for owners of Carrera Universal to modify most any slotcars with a reproduction guide for the universal track system. This guide is available from many german slotcar websites - I have also seen several Ninco cars modified with the reproduction guide for example. Additionally - I think that some german slotshops sell pre-modified (new) cars RTR.

I think that the Universal system is one of the most entertaining one I have ever tried... I love the guide technology and the total freedom of movement it represents.

If I rewire the track which cars can be fitted on the track. Any standard car ? Fly, Ninco, SCX ?

By the way : Found 2 standard Porsches 911 in medium condition for 50 euro's. For this kind of money you can drive a very cool Fly car. The rewiring thing is the best way to go I think.

I thank everybody in advance for their help. This is a great site with a lot of help.

It is really simple to rewire the track. You can set it up so you can switch between using your normal Universal cars some races and most any other slotcars other races. There are some simple things to keep in mind. 1. See to it that the two lanes are not electrically connected with each other - they are originally. Once you have isolated the lanes from each other all you need is to connect the two surface based rails with plus and minus independently for each lane. Cars from most modern manufacturers should work without any problems. Alternatively I would be willing to send you some scalextric track etc in exchange for your Universal setup.

Always wanted to have a universal track ever since I gave mine away
