Hi all ,

as per cleaning tips found on this web site

i used ATF oil to clean the rail but i might have used a bit too much and now thew track is all slicky with the oil.

I tried cleaning it up with wsome windex but that di not work ..

any good advice to clean the track properly to remove that slicky film

Thats going to be a long job now, dry paper towels to remove the most of it, and then some form of spirit to dampen a cloth to remove the rest I guess !

Probably the best thing to try is water and detergent, you'll get a horrible mixture of emulsified oil and water initially but keep at it and it will get rid of it. I wouldn't use washing up liquid as it has a high salt content, something like car shampoo would be better.

I avoid using water based cleaners on my track, it can get into the connections and cause rust. I clean my track with lighter fluid (naphtha) and that should remove the Dextron without damaging the track.
