Hi Guys

Im looking for a bit of help identifying or any information on a box of old vintage/retro slot cars I have come across.

I know the obvious of the scalextric ford escort rs's and the older f1 cars, But I know nothing about the cars/bodies/chassis as this was an era long before my time.

If anyone knows any information on the metal chassis cars/ motors this would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested in anything feel free to message me.

Thanks Jacob

The sixth pic down, showing an inverted blue sports car with a steering chassis under it, is a 2WD MRRC Felday 5, and it appears later on right way up, but it's missing all its clear parts. windscreen and side windows as well as the roll cage, driver and engine details.

It was also available in 4WD from, but only as a kit IIRC.

You seem to have cornered that market in Taylormade gears. Nice haul that.

Thanks for the info, i know it's a shame its missing the parts but could be a good start/resto project or spares for someone
There's a thread running on here about exactly those parts being made right now. I'm ashamed to say I can't remember who'd doing them but a search under 'Felday' should find it.
Hi

I think anyone taking on a restoration of the Felday would be very brave as the interior of the body mold has been crudely hacked out and it is missing one of its rear chassis mounting post I would suggest the only real value is in the chassis, But if you are after the repro parts Munter on this forum will probably be able to help you

Several are scratchbuilt from brass and would date from 1969-ish to the early '70s. The motors are mostly Mabuchi FT16D based by such makers as Riko, Revell and the two round hole one may be Mura. There's a Cox iso-fulcrum with a FT26, a Pittman DC196B, a VIP... If I get some time later I'll go through each one for you!

Richard
Right, I've been through every pic, of which I count 21:

1) ECRA-style 20 degree anglewinder, unknown FT16D motor, Taylormade gears as Gordon said. The pink can colour is interesting; if it has a flower or 'Cukras' sticker on it it may be worth a bit.

2) ECRA-style F1, FT16D motor possibly Revell, Taylormade gears.

3) Earlier (1967-ish) F1. shimmed FT16D motor possibly Strombecker? It may say on the endbell (the red bit)!

4) & 16) Pittman open-frame motor (or rear bracket at least), MRRC steering front end.

5) As 1), slightly later (?) motor can.

6) & 18) MRRC Felday.

(7), 9 ) & 21) Scalextric Escort MK I, as you know). To be continued...

8) Chassis parts as in 3).

(10) Scalextric F1 bodies as you know).

11) as 5). Mura can? What does the sticker say?

12) as 3).

13) Cox iso-fulcrum chassis, circa 1967, Mabuchi FT26 motor, scratchbuilt/Revell home set car guide and tab.

14) is a repeated pic.

15) Scalextric 13UO motors, very common.

16) see 4).

17) Bodies include vacform March 701 (blue #9) and Lotus 72 so circa 1970 which may help date the chassis. Blue lane sticker on earlier F1 body shows it raced somewhere!

18) see 6) above.

19) as 1) but with Rikowhip FT16D motor. Last ones coming up...

20) as 2) but another with a Rikowhip motor.

21) see 7) above.

All interesting cars and a window into British club racing of the time. Has anyone messaged you about buying? I ought not to because I have lots similar, but... On the other hand someone like Gordon may need the bits more than I do!

Richard
Ah well..... I would find them interesting but I am not a collector and only buy bits to use. My problem with most of these is that I wouldn't be able to race them as they fall into the years that retro racing seems to avoid, Bordo: no anglewinders etc. I have three or four of my similar cars from the 60's and they get run at home occasionally but they stay for nostalgia reasons only. It would be a shame to just break them up for parts so hopefully, a collector might be interested.
Thanks for the help identifying and the messages guys. Everythings gone now

Working on restoring this for a friend, I have had to build a broken front wing which I strengthened wit brass rod and then built up layers of wood filler. Then sanded to shape.. Never worked on a wood bodied slot car before. I have a NOS VIP guide blade to fit, The biggest problem was to find tyres, the wheels are so small. Finally got them from France

A K's Mk II motor, or is it a Mk I? You don't see too many of either sort about these days!

Ar Jay ....wonderful help there ....I initially thought that pink motor was a Garvic ..but then noticed it's FT 16 size, because the can end has the Mura open end! Could be a painted Mura or Cukras , Ar Jay might me right ! If it is a Cukras , it's worth more than the rest put together ...Hehe ! Zig

That pink motor is a Mura "B", so cannot be and never was a "Cukras". The only Mura pink motors that John Cukras was involved with where of the "D" size and ALWAYS have two circular vent holes and the inner "can in a can" shim with two slightly smaller holes.

The rare 1968 "Series 1" with fogged paint (various color schemes):

Font Electronic device Cable Electronic component Electronics accessory

Tire Wheel Motor vehicle Product Vehicle

The more common "Pink Cukras", that existed assembled or in kit form:

Product Font Material property Rectangle Gadget

Automotive lighting Gas Font Circuit component Magenta

Only these two motors types are genuine. I have seen sellers on E-Pay, trying to peddle "B" can motors as "genuine Cukras". Don't let anyone fool you, trying to slide a "B" motor, of which many were painted pink, as a "Cukras". They are not and never were.
